Seems like Wilder and Fury may not fight again

Post by margaret thatcher »

At least not this year, Fury already working on a UK return for December

Apparently the window for the 3rd fight may have expired an Fury isnt forced into it in that case. Makes less banana skins to AJ vs Fury in 2021

Fury and AJ seem headed to each other. What does Wilder do in the meantime?

Don't see why he couldn't beat up another PBC guy. I'd do Wilder vs Kownacki for now, and maybe next year have him fight Ruiz.

Of course, Fury-Joshua is #1 priority fight now. Hopefully it happens in the early 2021 indeed.

Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see Wilder against Whyte-Povetkin II winner. There's some history with Wilder against these two, as Wilder-Povetkin almost happened, while Whyte was a long-time mandatory for then Wilder's belt.

However, now Wilder will probably be matched like he has mostly been matched through his career, until he gets a title shot or gets upset by someone.

Honestly I have no problem with it. Fury should have won the first, even with the late knockdown. The draw was a gift for Wilder. In the second fight Fury removed all doubt who the better man is.

Any fight with Wilder is exciting, but Fury is beyond him at this point. Make Fury/AJ and let Wilder try to get a second good win on his resume before retiring.

If Fury wants to fight by the end of the year, I wonder who the opponent would be?

A lot of the better heavies have plans.

Who’d be his best opponent?

Helenius is an interesting option. Not a mismatch. Helenius has overall better boxing abilities in comparison to Wilder. He also can bang.

Fury will fight Joshua twice next year. In spring and December. His opponent this December will be better than most people expect. Tyson is fit and ready to go but clearly doesn't want to jeopardize his pension pot. Expect a strong, brave and durable opponent rather than explosive and skilful.

According to the rumour mill, Shelly Finkel refutes Team Fury's claims about the expiry of the immediate rematch clause against Wilder.

And several media sources are claiming that Fury is being lined-up to face the WBC's 15th placed Agit Kabayel on the 5th December.

If this bout goes ahead, I don't know if it'll be sanctioned as a WBC voluntary defence or a non-title bout.

Who knows what will happen?

I do feel that TV scheduling issues shouldn't force fighters to sit on the sidelines.

So regardless as to whether the immediate rematch clause is still effective or not, Wilder and Fury should both be allowed to engage in interim bouts, until their third fight eventually becomes economically viable.

I'll be glad if this is true.

We've seen the Fury/Wilder movie twice and it doesn't end well for Wilder.

Deontay Wilder couldn't beat a Tyson Fury who wasn't quite ready for such a fight and failed spectacularly in a rematch when Fury was ready, so what is the point of a third fight now?

Fury needs to be frying other fish now, preferably a Joshua shaped one, although if he went in with someone like Ruiz, Ortiz or maybe Parker, I wouldn't mind in the meantime if he can't get Joshua, but I appreciate this is fanciful.

Doubt we'll see the top three again this year, might as well switch them off our minds until 2021 they ain't fighting each other anytime soon.
Proof of that is we are looking forward to Povetkin v Whyte 2.
