Chris Billam-Smith will take on Deion Jumah for the vacant British Cruiserweight Title on the undercard of Alexander Povetkin’s huge rematch with Dillian Whyte on Saturday, November 21, shown live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Commonwealth Champion Billam-Smith (11-1, 10 KOs) retained his belt in emphatic style last time out at Matchroom Fight Camp in August, using his superior size and strength to blast out Cardiff’s Nathan Thorley in two dominant rounds.

‘The Gentleman,’ trained by Shane McGuigan in Kent, is seeking domestic dominance by avenging a loss he suffered to Jumah in the amateurs before turning his attention to a shot at European honors as he continues to impress with powerful performances.

English Champion Jumah (13-0, 7 KOs) is undefeated in thirteen fights, winning the Southern Area title with a fifth-round stoppage of Ossie Jervier at York Hall in 2018 before taking out Wadi Camacho in five to secure the English crown in 2019.

‘The Ghost,’ a 6′ 1″ southpaw from Chelsea, kicked off 2020 in style as he outpointed Sam Hyde over 12 compelling rounds to retain his English Title and secure a shot at the famous Lord Lonsdale Challenge Belt previously owned by Richard Riakporhe.

“I think it’s a great fight,” said Bilam-Smith. “Me and Dion have shared the ring in the amateurs, and we have sparred as professionals. I think our styles gel really nicely. Povetkin Will Be in Better Form For Whyte Rematch, Says Promoter

World of Boxing CEO Andrei Ryabinsky, who promotes Olympic gold medal winner Alexander Povetkin, says his boxer will be in better form for the upcoming rematch with Dillian Whyte.

Ryabinsky has spoken with Povetkin and advised him to get in top form, to be fully prepared for a twelve round contest.

At 41-year-old, Povetkin was big underdog when he entered the fight, but the unexpected victory has put him right back in the mix with the top heavyweights in the division.

Another win will place Povetkin one step closer to a world title fight.

"I drew Alexander's attention to the fact that he has to prepare with all of his might for the fight with Whyte. He promised that he will give his all during the preparation and he will come out in good shape for the fight," Ryabinsky said.

"Does he need to improve his defense? On the defensive side, it's too late to [change his style], because Alexander is an Olympic champion... when it comes to his technique everything is in order. I would pay more attention to physical training. Right now Alexander needs to pay special attention to physical training and practicing his skills, and sparring. He must be functionally ready to carry out all twelve rounds - in terms of the necessary physical conditions."

Actually, sometimes, when a fighter wins an eliminator, but then pulls out from a title bout, they place a loser of an eliminator instead. Beterbiev is scheduled for such opponent now, if I recall it correctly. Povetkin-Whyte was the WBC eliminator and it was Whyte's side, who had the right for demanding a rematch. And nothing is impossible in this corrupt sport, so why not?
