Too Many UK PPV's?

Post by Enlightened-One »

Is it my imagination or has boxing coverage in the UK regressed to the point that watching any half-decent bout incurs a PPV fee?

If we include last weekend’s event, coupled with those scheduled for the remainder of the year:

• Lomachenko-Lopez (FITE TV)
• Inoue-Moloney (FITE TV)
• Usyk-Chisora (Sky)
• Povetkin-Whyte (Sky)
• Joshua-Pulev (Sky)
• Crawford-Brook (FITE TV)
• Fury-TBC (BT)

Unless you’re wealthy, to the point where money really is no object, then you’re going to have to pick-and-choose the bouts you want to watch.

I understand there are illegal streams, but I shall refrain from commenting on those.

We’re in the midst of a global recession and also a pandemic, so the broadcasters must surely realise that charging a PPV fee to view any semi-noteworthy boxing content is unsustainable in the long-term.

Thoughts? :-?

You put Loma-Lopez twice.

It was only FITE tv.

Has Inoue-Moloney and Crawford-Brook been confirmed for FITE?

Tbh. Even if they haven’t, it’s likely Arum will just use FITE tv again. Both fights are gonna be at daft o’clock in the UK. Sky, BT/Boxination or whoever these is are not gonna use pay rights for these fights.

Inoue-Maloney is already listed.

https://www.fite.tv/watch/top-rank-inou ... ney/2p877/

It’s $9.99 standalone PPV price.

Is ‘free’ as part of you’re Top Rank monthly subscription through FITE for $4.99 per month. When I or they say free, it just means there will be no extra cost to the standard $4.99 subscription.

Of course there are too many, it's become ridiculous under Fast Eddie, he'd flog his horse fighting an OAP.

They took the sport away from the masses with their greed.

I've assumed Crawford-Brook will be on FITE TV, based on what happened to the Lomachenko-Lopez. bout.

No conventional UK broadcaster (i.e. Sky, BT, ITV, Channel 5 etc.) was willing to cover either of those two fights.

There'll be six PPV's between now and Christmas, which is only nine weeks away.

Already did. My mate was saying we’ll go halves on Loma-Lopez. £5 each.. I thought na..

Used my usual stream.. didn’t cut off once. It was only delayed by around 3 seconds.

I think That pricing is pretty fair. Dazn is 20 bucks here and espn is 5 bucks a month too. If you were picking and choosing id skip fury because hes probably fighting oscar Rivas or some crap like that
