Tyson Fury vs. Agit Kabayel or Carlos Takam Next!

Post by Enlightened-One »

]"Bob Arum reveals two frontrunner opponents for ‘Gypsy King’ on December 5 in UK are Agit Kabayel and Carlos Takam"[/b]

Tyson Fury is seemingly closing in on an opponent for his UK homecoming fight on December 5, with co-promoter Bob Arum naming Agit Kabayel and Carlos Takam as the two leading candidates.

The ‘Gypsy King’ scrapped plans to face Deontay Wilder for a third time as the bout kept getting pushed back and he said their contractual rematch clause had expired.

While Wilder’s team don’t fully agree, Fury’s camp are now pushing ahead with a title defence in London instead.

Arum told BS: “He’s deciding on an opponent… I’m not doing a bus boy.

“Fury should beat Takam but Takam is at least known and he has been on ESPN. And he looked pretty good in the last fight.

“The other guy [Kabayel] is undefeated and he has fought some fairly decent guys. I haven’t come up with anybody else.”

Kabayel is a German heavyweight whose career path has been somewhat baffling over the past few years.

In 2017, the 28-year-old beat Herve Hubeaux to win the vacant European heavyweight title and then defended it with an impressive points win over Derek Chisora.

In the three years since, he’s only fought three times against journeymen and has been unable to put together any career momentum to progress from European level to challenging the world champions.

The man who outboxed Chisora in 2017 is a talented heavyweight to be reckoned with, but it’s unclear if he can translate that ability against the very best.

Takam is a French-Cameroonian who has faced multiple top heavyweights in the past but always come up short.

The 39-year-old has defeats to Anthony Joshua, Derek Chisora, Alexander Povetkin and Joseph Parker on his record.

He always gives a solid account of himself though and remains a decent heavyweight gatekeeper.

Takam is 39, not sure he's got anything left. He's also pretty small and won't trouble Fury.

Kabayel, other than his lacklustre MD win Chisora, has a Wallin/Schwarz looking record. He's showed a bit more promise than them but is so inactive and against poor opposition that it's hard to tell what his level is.

Fury should beat both with ease but atleast if it's Kabayel then we might see something new.

Obviously, The Gypsy King will deal with both of them, but it'll be better, if it's Kabayel, who is more likely to try to go for it in contrast to old Takam.

I like Carlos Takam, but he's age 39 and fighting him at this time will make Tyson Fury look bad.

Agit Kabayel, although probably not a top heavyweight, is undefeated and in his prime. This is a more interesting fight for Fury and the fans, it's the perfect warm up for him before taking on Anthony Joshua next year.

According to rds.ca you can add oscar rivas to that list.
After an interview with Rivas promoter Gym.
Kabayel is the leader according to Gym..

Does it really matter? He's going to destroy both of them.

Horrible fights. Thoughts of these fights being made make me look for the exit sign in the bandwagon.

Arun would have to pull some strings to get Takam rated by the WBC.
Nothing a nice donation won't take care of

What about Andy Ruiz? He's a former champ, looking to redeem himself, and his name is never mentioned. Too risky?

He was scheduled to fight Arreola this year, but then he decided to move his next bout to the next year, if I recall it correctly.

The only ones I think maybe interesting for Fury are Joshua and Usyk.

Fury didn't find the Usyk matchup interesting and it's understandable, cause Joshua with his belts is a primary target.

Sure, but if the Joshua fight doesn't work out, Usyk would probably make the most sense after that should he stay undefeated.

Actually, Usyk can even turn out to be a harder opponent for Fury than Joshua. I find Usyk-Joshua matchup a possibly more competetive than Fury-Joshua. Fury gotta fight Joshua because of the formality with belts. But do they really value? This question becomes bigger and bigger. Fury will likely to be stripped of his WBC belt soon because of this new weight nonsense. Nevertheless, Fury is still gonna be taken as the man.

Yeah, I think Usyk is probably going to be more able to keep up with Fury's boxing/hand speed than Joshua. I would like to see Usyk vs Joshua too, that might be a good fight. I think Fury probably picks Joshua apart though.

I'm also sure, that Fury will deal with Joshua. Hopefully this fight happens early next year after their formalities in the current year with Pulev, Kabayel/Takam, whoever. After all global events they shouldn't marinate this fight anymore. It's already the biggest fight boxing can suggest right now, they shouldn't waste such opportunity, while they still can organize such a valuable event.

Yes, it's a real bore watching these so called 'top' boxers squirm and squirm as they find ways to avoid serious rivals.

Fury has long been a drug cheating, manipulative, lying, fork tongued bs merchant.

He could fight David Price tomorrow for a perfect UK homecoming fight, but would rather keep running away.

As he did back when Price challenged him for his belts.

Arum said it's between Kabayel and Takam.

He actually mentioned that they're not looking at Rivas. Why? Because of his height..

I think you may possibly be the only person besides David Price who would want to see that fight
To me that is as bad as facing Takam

They should skip the anti doping nonsense and give Big Baby Miller his shot, taking advantage of the promotional work done by AJ and Hearns.
