Michael Conlan vs. Isaac Dogboe - 5 December 2020 (OFF)

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

This was rumoured.. it’s not been confirmed.

Good fight.

Takes place in London. Guessing it will be the 40th anniversary card.

Undefeated Michael Conlan to meet former champion Isaac Dogboe in December

A fight between undefeated Michael Conlan and former WBO junior featherweight champion Isaac Dogboe has been agreed upon for Dec. 5. The bout will take place at the Royal Albert Hall in London on a card slated to be headlined by WBC heavyweight titlist Tyson Fury, sources told ESPN.

"I'm really excited for this fight -- [he's a] former world champion and dangerous guy," Conlan (14-0, 8 KOs) told ESPN. "As soon as it was mentioned, I said, 'Yes get it done.' Isaac likes to talk, and I'm looking forward to shutting him up!"

Conlan last fought on Aug. 15, winning with a 10th-round TKO of Sofiane Takoucht in London.

Dogboe, who suffered consecutive losses to Emanuel Navarrete in 2018 and 2019, bounced back with an eighth-round TKO victory over Chris Avalos on July 21 at the MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas.

Dogboe's trainer, Barry Hunter, said that Dogboe will begin training for the fight this week.

Very decent fight, on paper at least. Nice step up for Conlan if it gets made.

Good step up for Conlan. Dogboe maybe lost a bit in his two fights with Navarette but he’s a good age and has a decent pedigree

Good fight. If Fury has a half decent opponent and Yarde v Arthur on the same card it’s a good card.

Dogboe took two back to back beatings against Navarette and should have been spared both times by his corner IMO. I have to wonder if Isaac is damaged goods now.

Michael Conlan: Injured Belfast fighter out of December world title eliminator against Isaac Dogboe

Belfast fighter Michael Conlan has been forced to pull out of his world title eliminator against Isaac Dogboe on 5 December because of an ankle injury.

Conlan was set to face the former WBO super-bantamweight champion in London and was hoping victory would land him a world title shot in March.

"Absolutely devastated to announce I will no longer be fighting December 5," said Conlan, 28, on Twitter.

Conlan said he "ruptured" his anterior talofibular ligament on Wednesday.

"Back home now recovering. Doc said I'll be out for 8-12 weeks but I'll be back sooner, just watch."

The 2012 Olympic bronze medallist said that he sustained the injury in training.

Conlan was moving down from featherweight for what would have been a super-bantamweight contest against the Ghanaian-British fighter and was hoping victory would land him a world title shot on St Patrick's Day in March.

The unbeaten 28-year-old secured his 14th consecutive career win by stopping Sofiane Takoucht in August.

Conlan said earlier this year that he would have expected to fight for a world title at Belfast's Falls Park in the summer if it had not been for the coronavirus pandemic.

Six of Conlan's 14 professional fights have been held in New York, with two bouts taking place in Belfast, including a sellout Falls Park show near his childhood home in the west of the city, in the summer of 2019.
