But Fields was the favourite going into that, no?
Can’t remember to be honest, with a bit of luck bookies will make Allen the underdog and we can all clean up!
IF they do it will be a race to see who can dump there life savings on Allen befor the odds correct themselves.... I just hope they get odds up soon so i can get a bet on befor everyone sees the shape lovejoy will be in. 2 days notice, on that covid program.., wont be shocked if he is wellll over 300lb.
I found his instagram page, he claims he’s expecting to weigh in around 330-335 lbs

Applies to a lot of boxers so it may partly be that, but I’d imagine it’s as much to do with IFL and Sky ramming him down everyone’s throats at every opportunity.

Good luck to him but he’s earning way above his ability and most probably dedication in relation to many other active fighters in the uk currently.

Allen was paid £9k against Ortiz..

I'm guessing he cleared nearly 6 figures against Browne or Price at least..

So what if he is a journeyman, he’s still a fighter, while pretty much learning on the job he’s hung in there and taken his lumps against the likes of Whyte, Ortiz and Yoka, got a good win over Browne and is generally a likeable bloke that speaks honestly, he’s limited with flaws so it’s interesting to see where he ends up.

That's about how I see it as well. Good luck to Dave Allen, he's making a few quid out of the game. He's been in with some good fighters, fair play to the lad.
Yeah not everyone is the next Ali, what’s good about boxing is that there’s a place for everyone and with good old fashioned guts, work ethic and a bit of luck you can carve out your own little legacy to look back on and be proud of, it’s tough in that ring so can’t knock anyone for having a go.

As an American, Allen is what the sport is missing. Willing to fight anyone and always trying to win. If a guy, like whomever this is, isn't the real McCoy he can expose it.

Press Release

Dave Allen will fight Christopher Lovejoy on the undercard of the blockbuster Heavyweight clash between Oleksandr Usyk and Derek Chisora at The SSE Arena, Wembley on Saturday October 31, live on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and on DAZN in all of its nine markets including the U.S.

Fan favourite Allen was due to make his ring return against Christian Hammer before the German was forced out after testing positive for COVID-19 now meets undefeated Christopher Lovejoy whose 100% KO record from his 19 professional bouts see him ranked in the top 15 with the WBA.

“I’m looking forward to this fight with Chris,” said Allen. “He’s positioned 15th with the WBA and I’d love to take that World ranking. He’s a big, strong man and just look at his record - He’s done what’s been asked of him in those 19 fights. There’s not much footage of him, so I don’t know really know what I’m preparing for which adds to the intrigue but I’m going in there to do a number on him."

"I finally made it here to the U.K!" said Lovejoy. "I'm here to shock the world and show what Chris Lovejoy is really about. Dave will end up number 20 on my record. I've travelled a long way so I just hope he shows up!"

"This is fascinating," added promoter Eddie Hearn. "Here we have this giant in Christopher Lovejoy that has amassed 19 wins with 19 KOs against limited opposition and has somehow found himself in the world top 15. The truth is, he might be an absolute beast or he may get found out but for Dave Allen it’s a huge opportunity. There will be plenty of eyeballs on this fight and if Dave can get the win he will force himself into the World rankings and land a major fight in 2021. I have absolutely no idea what’s going to happen but I’m excited to find out!"

Wow confirmed.

You know what. I’d love it if Lovejoy KO’d Allen. Keeps his 100% record in tact.

It's actually a fun matchup. With Hammer it was clear, he was gonna whoop Dave. But this mysterious KO king Lovejoy brings some intrigue.

A guy who has been bottom feeding as badly as Lovejoy, with no amateur background of any note, it's pretty obvious he can't fight at all and has been fighting paid for trash for a reason

I think this is great, Buddy Mcgirt watching Lovejoy on the heavy bag, he can hardly hide his distain for what he's seeing.
20 second point Buddy says "Is that what it was" after he said throw a right hand to Lovejoy.

Looking forward to this. Lovejoy has a reputation as a banger but I remember when he was flogging antiques at reasonable prices and getting into capers.

Must be getting on a bit. Been a while since Deadwood and Ray Donovan. Did a back job with Ray Winstone back in the day.

Last time I saw him he had been murdered by the brotherhood without banners, glad he has recovered.

This is clearly no Edgar Berlanga being brought over.

The whole thing reeks of novelty. Lovejoy is about as over protected as you can get and Dave Allen has long been something of a joke amongst the more clued up boxing fans.

Two novelty acts for the price of one
