Two sides to every story. The likes of Callum Johnson going 600 days without a fight is criminal. Unsure if it’s joe being hard to negotiate with if Eddie not wanting to pay what is due or neglecting him for others.

Callum Johnson has been avoided like the plague in Britain ever since he came in and gave Frank buglioni a swift hiding inside a round.

I do think Gallagher is unlikeable as a personality and perhaps that affects the fighters negotiations. Callum Smith getting a stinker of a decision against ryder put a bad taste in the mouth also about how that whole thing was handled. If look up the video on YouTube and check the comments, 99% of the comments are people disgusted with the decision. Gallagher was acting like a pillock after that fight for me.

Gallagher kept saying that Natasha Jonas was a 36 year old single parent. Does he think that Sky is a charity? He then played the race card and then the mental health card.
He had previously ranted on about Sky favouring Buatsi over Johnson, which made his race card ridiculous.

I haven’t seen the Gallagher/Eddie interviews but I can imagine Gallagher is very difficult to negotiate with.

Callum Smith would have got loads in winning the WBSS (wasn’t it something like £4m?) which is great for him but he’s not going to get anything like that again unless he fights Canelo or Golovkin. He doesn’t sell out the Echo (pretty sure it wasn’t full for his fight against Ryder), isn’t a big personality but I’m sure Gallagher will be pushing for massive purses which probably can’t be delivered just boxing on regular Sky.

Is it any surprise that several of the boxers that Gallagher manages have been inactive? Callum Smith, Liam Smith, Johnson and others.

I saw a twitter exchange between Eddie and Jonas. She’d been offered a fight for a world title on the November 14th card. It had been rejected but it was as though she didn’t even know about it.

Just watching the Gallagher ifl interview. He’s deluded and he’s talking shite.

Saying that the offer for Jonas to fight wasn’t acceptable is ‘on the border of racism’ is well out of order.

I’m not Eddie’s biggest fan by any means but he’s done more to push women’s boxing in the U.K. than any other promoter and to try and paint him as being racist is far too extreme and is only going to damage Tasha’s career.

Where else could she go UK wise? FW dabbled with Nicola Adams but hasn’t signed anyone since and Mick doesn’t have many women fighting on his shows either.

He mentioned that she was a single mum twice too - if she needed the money as he’s implying then negotiate the best deal for her, get her a world title and she’s in a much better position to negotiate next year for a rematch with Harper.

Joe's created a problem here for himself and his stable by directing all his fighters to a single promoter.

It's well known in boxing circles that Joe G is a nightmare, accusing Sky of racism is insane, it cant be a coincidence that most of his fighters are inactive, maybe he should stick to training fighters because obviously his management is detrimental to his boxers careers, surely he can comprehend that theres a pandemic going on and zero gate, to compare boxing to Premier League and Formula One is naive at best

As for Brook it seems he tried to cut out Hearn and Sky to make the Crawford deal and went back cap in hand when the other networks patched them off, I've heard a few things over the years about Brooks's dads medalling, maybe Brook not being informed full picture??

Brook and anyone managed by Joe Gallagher need to hook up with MTK,

The only thing I agreed with on Gallaghers interview was that football players,f1 drivers and tennis players arnt taking a pay cut so why are boxers being told because of the current climate they have to fight for half of what they would last year? Sky pay Eddie for the contract of supplying shows and that contract hasnt changed so,to me,hearn is creamin the money and throwing crumbs down to the fighters.

Im a bit on the fence with this one to be honest. But firstly, the racist comment is bang out of order from Gallagher. Eddie loves coins and doesnt care what colour pocket they come from.

Jonas being a single mum is also a load of bollocks and doesnt need mentioning. Jonas will have had a reasonable purse from her previous fight and will have sponsorship. There are millions of single mums financially far worse than Natasha Jonas in UK. Im presuming she doesnt live in a 12th storey one bed council flat?

Eddie on the other hand can be a bit 'greedy'. He quoted in his IFL interview that if either Chisora or Usyk cannot fight (covid + etc) then the whole show gets pulled.

Why?

Surely, if you build a card that is not strong enough to stand alone even without the main event on then you are at fault for constructing that card. If Usyk or Chisors pull out for whatever reason the pull the PPV status of the card and air it on normal sky sports. its not rocket science. Why would you pull the whole show and lose the income for all of the other fighters on the card who have trained long and hard. Eddie has gor greedy with the PPVs. If he doubled things up........Chisors/Usyk and white/povetkin etc on same card then one fight falling would still mean that the show goes on. And the public and the other fighters would be happier.

ahhhhh....but its not about the other fighters or the public. Its about those pockets again. :brick: :brick:

and yes, Joe Gallagher does seem hard to deal with. If a fighter is offered seemingly 'poor' money for a world title tilt, then go out there, take the lower purse, and win the bloody title. Then the better purses will come. Short term loss for long term gain.........basic business.

The money football clubs and F1 get is massively weighted to TV rights deals so whilst they’ve been affected by Covid their revenue is still strong because the TV money is still coming in.

Also football players and F1 drivers will have contracts and they’ll still be fulfilling the terms of the contract so should be paid as normal.

With boxing the revenue split between TV income and fans is more even (won’t be far off 50/50 for normal Sky Sports arena shows) so whilst Sky will likely be paying the same or even a little more they’re still losing a massive % of their revenue streams. They may be able to make up a little with increased sponsorship deals but it will never cover the lost money from not having 5,000 fans pay £80 on average for a ticket.

Do you think that all the ' Tesco ' stuff and the ' dog ' stuff might be the reason he's so aggressive regarding the boxing business? He knows about it and everyone else knows about it so it's got to be an elephant in the room during negotiations. Its absolutely right about him taking all his fighters away from Frank and now he's fallen out with Hearn theres nowhere to go. Rule number one for any manager must be to keep options open for their clients.

It appears that Jonas, is already with MTK and that MTK were more than happy with the situation for the fight on the Taylor undercard.

Yep. I don’t even get why Gallagher’s getting involved with conversations about her purse for the fight - that’s down to the manager (MTK) to sort whilst his sole focus should be on getting Tasha ready to fight.

Completely out of order for Gallagher to play the race card. Ludicrous, unwarranted, and shows how low he will go. If I ever came across somebody like that in life I'd go out of my way to avoid them, life with its ups and downs is hard enough at times, without having some idiot adding the race card onto a grievance.

He’s not even Jonas’ manager though which is the crazy thing! Could you imagine listening to Rob McCracken talking about AJ’s purses or Tony Sims talking about purses - wouldn’t and shouldn’t happen. Leave it behind closed doors and leave it to the managers.

Eddie said on his side of things that every member of Jonas’s management team within MTK we’re happy with the deal in place to fight Heather Hardy and then rematch Harper. He said Joe was the only one objecting and he questioned whether Jonas had actually seen the offers which he said ended with Jonas earning twice what she got for the first fight.

Joe didn’t make any sense at all trying to insinuate boxers could earn the same money or almost the same money in the current climate which is total rubbish. Even Queensbury and Joe Joyce’s manager have all said ‘we’ve had to all take a pay cut through this pandemic and we’d be taking a pay cut even if Joyce Dubois was PPV because there’s less revenue.’

There is a point that Liam Smith and Callum Johnson do seem to be getting left out tho. Callum Smith is in a similar situation to Billy Joe which explains his inactivity. You’d blow your own brains out if you walked away from Canelo negotiations and announced a fight and then found out you could have got the fight.
