Voted Murray by KO only wishful thinking woild be funny as eeff!
Really frustrating to see BJS avoid big fights and with his talent he actually could have had a chance to win.
BJS by pitter patter decision and manages to give away a fee rounds here and there.

Am I think that so far under Hearn, this is only Billy Joe's second fight - the first being the one he nearly lost against the average fighter on the youtubers undercard? Pretty poor show really as this is a fight he cannot really win in either.
Re: Billy Joe Saunders vs. Martin Murray - 4 December 2020
Correct. Hardly the ‘big fights’ they both spoke about.

How can a promoter have Saunders, Smith, Jacobs and Andrade and not have had any of them face off?
He als has Golovkin and Bivol right?
Could have had a huge tournament at 160 there, throw in Ryder and 1 other and you've a very good looking 8 man tournament, with international appeal, and at least 7 bouts of intrigue.

Golovkin’s signed a co-promotional deal.. maybe that’s cuz he hasn’t got his own stable at GGG promotions. Needs to fill a card. Then his got his own deal with DAZN too.Boxing Prospect wrote: ↑25 Oct 2020, 09:07 How can a promoter have Saunders, Smith, Jacobs and Andrade and not have had any of them face off?

But you’re right. All these fights.. DAZN overpay anyway.. Surely can make some fights out of these 160 and 168’ers.
Didn’t take Arum long to make Loma-Lopez did it?
Re: Billy Joe Saunders vs. Martin Murray - 4 December 2020
Ill be watching fwanks show on BT,if i want to go to sleep ill take a sleeping pill.
Re: Billy Joe Saunders vs. Martin Murray - 4 December 2020
I think the DAZN model was not going to be viable, they over pay but seemingly in advance - so when everything was honky Dory - they didn't want to risk their investment to lose - only now where they are seemingly feeling the pinch are they really pushing Canelo to fight someone decent.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑25 Oct 2020, 09:16Golovkin’s signed a co-promotional deal.. maybe that’s cuz he hasn’t got his own stable at GGG promotions. Sky are seemingly out (or on the wane) in terms of any US shows, so that reduces it somewhat and Eddie is really all about the PPV now, cannot really blame him with no fans...... only one of those combinations I think is a PPV headliner - Smith vs Saunders (well add GGG to the mix and you could say then he is a PPV with either brit) - rest are not PPVs - and I don't think he can honestly afford, in the present climate, having something like Saunders vs Andrade on normal Sky Sports with no fans or as a Undercard to a PPV - lets be honest, the Whyte vs Povetkin undercard was probably cheap and so probably is this next one.
None of these guys have fought yet since the boxing is allowed back and only one of them has had a fight negotiated - that says a lot perhaps about the wages / purses they are wanting.

Chisora v Usyk: BBC Radio 5 Live signs deal to include Joshua, Taylor and Saunders fights
Derek Chisora versus Oleksandr Usyk will be broadcast on BBC Radio 5 Live on Saturday as part of a deal that also includes Anthony Joshua's next bout.
Chisora's Wembley Arena fight kick-starts a hectic spell in British boxing and BBC Radio 5 Live will air ringside commentary for four huge fight nights.
The deal includes world-title bouts featuring Katie Taylor on 14 November and Billy Joe Saunders on 4 December.
World heavyweight champion Joshua takes on Kubrat Pulev on 12 December.
"We were there for Anthony Joshua's redemption mission in Saudi Arabia last December and we'll be back at ringside for his first fight in more than a year," said BBC Sport boxing correspondent Mike Costello.
"With Billy Joe Saunders also back in action and Katie Taylor topping a bill featuring three women's world title fights, we've rarely featured a more hectic spell of boxing on 5 Live.
"Joshua's showdown against Kubrat Pulev closes out an unprecedented run of fights in British heavyweight boxing and it all begins at Wembley Arena on Saturday."
All of the bouts will be behind closed doors at Wembley Arena and BBC Sport will offer live text commentary alongside radio coverage.
Chisora, 36, is an underdog against Ukraine's Usyk, who has 17 wins from 17 bouts and held all four world titles at cruiserweight before moving up to the heavyweight division.
Taylor's bout two weeks later will see the 34-year-old Irishwoman risk all four of her women's world lightweight titles against Spain's undefeated Miriam Gutierrez, 37. The fight night features three women's bouts - all for world titles at different weights - at the top of the card.
Saunders, 31, will look to find momentum in defending his WBO world super-middleweight title against fellow Briton Martin Murray on 4 December. Murray, 38, has fought for a world title four times before and his five career defeats in 45 bouts have all come against elite opposition.
And Joshua will round off a hectic pre-Christmas period when he faces Bulgaria's Pulev with three of the four world heavyweight titles on the line.
A win could go a long way to setting up a 2021 meeting with Tyson Fury, who fights on 5 December and holds the only belt Joshua does not possess.

Re: Billy Joe Saunders vs. Martin Murray - 4 December 2020
You are talking about a world-class operator who has had one meaningful fight in the past 5 years (Lemieux 3 years ago). At what point do you accept he has some responsibility for not having had big fights? If it's down to the promoter, you move promoter - plenty other fighters have done that in the past. He's 31 now and has wasted a lot of his prime.
If I'd said to you after the Lee win in 2015, when he was 26, that he'd spend the next 5 years fighting the likes of Adamu and Isufi, I bet you wouldn't have believed me. That's over half his pro career wasted to all intents and purposes.
Re: Billy Joe Saunders vs. Martin Murray - 4 December 2020
cant disagree at all with you there, i agree with all that i am just saying is it not more due to bad management, than him as a boxer, even the lee fight took ages remember it was gonna be ireland at first . i just think bad handling played a big partDeserter wrote: ↑03 Nov 2020, 15:38You are talking about a world-class operator who has had one meaningful fight in the past 5 years (Lemieux 3 years ago). Re: Billy Joe Saunders vs. Martin Murray - 4 December 2020
in away his career has followed like Gary O'Sullivan no disrespect to him , surley if youre a boxer ,you aint going to look at that record and think i am great never lost , i dont belive that why i amjust saying bad handling must of played its part
Re: Billy Joe Saunders vs. Martin Murray - 4 December 2020
Yeh, fair enough mate, just think we have to remember he could have moved management if he really wanted the big fights, that's all.

I think the reality is that BJS is the sole reason for his career entirely stagnating since the Lee win.brilo33 wrote: ↑03 Nov 2020, 15:57true enough more than likey both, but he will be looked as a what if .not what a boxer and that is on him
Saunders’ lack of professionalism is the biggest factor to a lack of progression. Despite being a hard and diligent trainer in camp, he has been too ill-disciplined out of the ring and often badly out of shape and thus not in condition to fight.
I think the story is told by the fact allegedly happily waved him off to Matchroom. I think Frank grew tired himself by the end. Not an easy guy to promote and manage, or at least he hasn’t been. Constant changing of trainers surely can’t help neither.

i guess the proof is in the pudding liam . i agree with a lot that has been said, but bill in the early days did fight fights like against chris jr where a lot people where going for chris to beat him, i just dont think bill is a coward thats all ,

He is game and actually, a very bright boxer with high ring IQ.
Hopefully he matures a bit now he’s in his 30s and gets involved in some decent meaningful fights. Maybe I’m delusional, but I’m a fan of the lad and hope he can deliver on that early promise.

Is he really that good though ???
Out boxing a 1D plodder in Lemieux and squeaking past lee.
I’m going to say he’s been Overestimated.

Re: Billy Joe Saunders vs. Martin Murray - 4 December 2020
And I'd chip in that it was Chris Eubank jnr who was the one taking more of a risk. Saunders had faced better opposition, so had the advantage at the time they boxed.
Eubank jr has boxed better opposition since their fight too IMO, and for my money the DeGale and Yildrim wins compare favourably against Saunders' wins. Additionally Eubank jnr isn't a pick pocket performer putting the audiences fast asleep.

I was absolutely certain this fight had already happened or was slated to happen about 4 times?
Anyway, hope Billy has one of his off nights and Martin bangs him out

2 years ago. FW promoted. BJS dropped out twice. Murray still fought against Garcia I think it was.
