He was as great as the second tier champions of the Larry Holmes era or like brief champions between the Lewis and Wlad eras, i.e. he was the belt-holder, but he wasn't the man of the division.

In the Klitschko era Wlad was the man, while Vitali was a sorta appendage to his lil' brother. Wlad was whooping the best opposition possible, Vitali was dealing with the remains and he sorta shared Wlad's glory.

A pretty strange case for the boxing history.

The man never lost a title defense and was never knocked down!

Nine title defenses and never knocked down.

He only has one real loss on his record and it was to all-time great Lennox.

How can he be second tier?????

Because Wlad was dealing with the best of the division, so he was the man, the first tier. Vitali should have either do that instead of Wlad or defeat Wlad to become the man. So, your surprise is quite awkward here.

Wlad came back after that and defeated opponents, who were supposed to be better than Sanders. Wlad cleaned the division up, not Vitali.

Haters who can't admit the greatness of Dr. Ironfist!

Never seen Vitaly get rolled around on the canvas like Joe Frazier did vs. Foreman.

Never saw Vitaly destroyed in the corner like Ali vs. Holmes.

Never saw Vitaly flat on his back like Louis vs. Marciano.

As if Vitali fought anyone like Foreman, Holmes or Marciano.

Anyway, he was KTFOed by Pele Reid in the amateur kickboxing, what Foreman or Marciano we are talking about?

Along with Oliver McCall and Nikolai Valuev, he is also the only world heavyweight champion to have never been knocked down in any fight. Klitschko and George Foreman are the only heavyweight boxers in history to defend a world title after turning 40.

Never knocked down!

9 successful title defenses!

11-1 in major title fights!

Higher KO PCT than George Foreman and Earnie Shavers!

Arm puncher with the highest KO pct?

The opinions don't match the stats. 235 rounds of boxing and he won almost every round. He shut out almost every opponent he faced.

41 KO arm puncher. 41 out of 45 wins. Imagine if he punched with his body? His arm punches knocked out a higher rate than George Foreman.
