is there anything in the Fury glove controversy?

Post by Ricky »

I seen alot of talk about Fury's gloves after the Wilder fight online and did think it looked suspicious.

The controversy has sparked again with Wilder himself accusing Fury of foul play.

Image

I certainly think there is something not quite right with those gloves, if you try to picture where Furys knuckles would be inside the glove, they seem a good few inches longer... as if his wrist has stretched out like Michael Jordan in Spacejam?

Furys does have an incredibly long reach though, 7 foot if I'm not mistaken, are the photographs just deceptive? Or is Fury wearing his gloves illegally?

What exactly is the explanation of his gloves though!?

Looking at those images, can you really say Fury's knuckles are where they are supposed to be?

Er...Yes.

The commission and a representative of Wilder's team watch his hands getting wrapped. The commission watch Fury being gloved. The ref checks Fury's gloves when he enters the ring.

Fury beats Wilder up. Wilder has trouble mentally accepting defeat and comes out with outlandish statements blaming everyone and everything but himself for the loss.

I can't believe anyone would buy this delusional nonsense.

If Fury's knuckles were lower in the glove it would be very much to his own disadvantage.

Maybe so, but it's still illegal and it looks very much from the photographs like his fist is about 4 inches lower than where it actually should be. The trouble I'm having with this one is that nobody has actually offered an explanation for it?

he slaps without closing the glove a lot, that's all and these photos are nothing weird, it's total nonsense that anything untoward was up, and wilder's team and the comission were all there to check it out

no one spotted anything until wilder lost, even with stuff from the first fight not being brought up until then .it's all sour grapes and the people sympathizing with him were all biased towards him to start and are trying to make excuses

how about those skills he showed, eh rick :OhYes:

Boxing forums are full of bias and impossible to get unbiased views on certain subjects. In spite of this forum being one of the best in terms of an unbiased view at times, there are still serious limitations. There is no chance that this topic would ever get a reasonable discussion.

it has gotten a fair hearing, nothing at all wrong with the gloves, the dudes playing it up all went hard on wilder before the fight and now are trying to rationalize the result with this nonsense

how about these

-comission and wilder's team all were there for hand wrapping and gloving up. none said anything. bizarre if there was really these egregious and obvious foul play.

-comission and wilder's team and the ref were all there by the ring during the fight. none said anything. again, bizarre.

-why hasn't there been a formal investigation into this? surely there would be witnesses to this grave injustice to support one, surely wilder's wealthy team would've filed a protest or lawsuit

-so what actually was done to the gloves in the first place, when, and what's the disadvantage it put wilder at?

-not a word about this came out until wilder lost, why the wait? why even did it take like a year for complaints about the gloves from the first fight (that's what started the 'controversy') to come out? maybe because dudes were salty that wilder lost and that's what triggered them into grasping for excuses! no surprise it's rick and lep going on about it

-what exactly is off in these photos anyway? what couldnt be explained by a dude who for example slaps with an open hand? when you slap someone hard your hand bends back, and if you land punches at certain angles you easily get photos like this

No chance, its impossible to make a fist in a taped up glove if you pull your hand down the glove.

Haha, you think because i lost a bet months ago I'm looking for some evidence to take to the gambling comission to try and get my £100 back

Try an seperate yourself emotionally from the fight and the 2 boxers.

Pretend you had never seen the fight or even heard of Wilder or Fury; look at those photos in a vacuum of anything else and tell me that doesn't look suspicious. If you imagine an x-ray of the hand in the glove, if the knuckles are where they should be, Fury would have a wrist about twice as long as it should be.

ya, all the bois buying into this are the dudes who were all repping wilder beforehand...coincidence that none of these dudes made a single complaint until wilder lost LOL. even took a whole f@cking year (aka until wilder lost) for dudes to apparently notice it from the first fight

i've posted those points already, no answer to them predictably. the pictures look fine.

A saying I live by is "don't go by what people say, go by what they do". It applies here, I would argue.

The key development in Fury/Wilder 3 happening or not happening is the contract expiration. Its apparently gone now, the contracted first crack at Tyson. So what has happened next ? His team have been in denial about the contract expiry, which suggests they don't know their arse from their elbow. Fury decided he wanted to fight in Dec, and that is being lined up. That is a key development, and even more important is the realisation that once Fury and AJ come through their Dec fights, they will fight in 2021, probably in back to back fights. That puts Deontay on the outside looking in for a very long time, and he will be 36 by the time he gets a title shot, not old for a heavyweight but old for a heavyweight who relies on speed, power and reflexes for success.

To me, all these things are key events which have prompted Deontay to now play the "cheat" card. He is up xxxx creak without a paddle so he's now come out with all this.

I think the timing of events tells its own story here. He could have come out with his conspiracy theories earlier in the year, but when he had the platform to speak up, he talked about the costume being too heavy. That was the time to come out with this stuff if he believed it. He's only saying it now because he has missed the bus completely.

nothing suspicious at all. just a boxing landing with the palm area. calzaghe did it all the time. fury consistently adjusted his trunks thru the fight too for what its worth. he wouldn't be able to do that if this ludicrous conspiracy was true.

Wilder is a total fanny.

Theres no way in gods green earth furys team could have Inserted something into the glove once they'd been taped up.

Anybody who buys this rubbish should PM me, as I have been brewing the elixir of life in my kitchen.
