Alexander Povetkin vs. Dillian Whyte II - 27 March 2021
Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. Dillian Whyte II - 30 January 2021
Don't know why people want to see Whtye - Chisroa 3 on such short notice, Chisora was blowing out of his a** after 3 rounds. Rather they wait to be honest. Enough PPV on recently.

If stories of being hospitalised are true then even late January could be too soon to be fully fight ready for Sasha.
Wishing him and full and speedy recovery.

That’s what I was thinking- surely the hospitalisation bit can’t be right? Loads of sportsmen have had Covid and been back in training within a couple of weeks, don’t think any of them have even been close to being hospitalised. And if the hospitalisation is right, how could he realistically be ready to fight in Jan?

Should be Whyte Vs Mike Hunter IMO.
Winner can rematch Povetkin in Jan.

Will Whyte still fight? Who could he fight?

Yes a shame Hunter wasn’t offered Fury or WhytePukka Cheese wrote: ↑03 Nov 2020, 15:52 Should be Whyte Vs Mike Hunter IMO.

It would’ve been a flash on inspiration; too good to be true
Most feel Hunter beat Povetkin in their decent scrap & he can claim to giving Usyk one of his very toughest fights (as a cruiserweight)

Doesn’t help that Hunter left Matchroom. Not that he can’t still work with them.Autobarn wrote: ↑03 Nov 2020, 15:59Yes a shame Hunter wasn’t offered Fury or WhytePukka Cheese wrote: ↑03 Nov 2020, 15:52 Should be Whyte Vs Mike Hunter IMO.

Oh, I didn’t know. That’d explain the prominence of Povetkin, who officially got a draw with him, on the U.K. scene.

It's a very unpredictable virus in its effects. I was back at work within a week and back to normal within a few weeks, whilst my wife was not that ill at first but has subsequently ended up with a host of problems from it which are still there eight months later. Some healthy people are asymptomatic and others die.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑03 Nov 2020, 14:45That’s what I was thinking- surely the hospitalisation bit can’t be right? Of course, I wasn’t saying it was impossible for him to be in hospital as I know it affects people very differently. I just meant that it would be very unusual for a sportsman to be hospitalised for it, and if that had happened then surely he wouldn’t be ready to fight in a couple of months?dookus wrote: ↑04 Nov 2020, 07:19It's a very unpredictable virus in its effects. Apparently there have been a few - the New York Times interviewed some of them: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/29/spor ... letes.htmlBoxerbeetle wrote: ↑04 Nov 2020, 08:41Of course, I wasn’t saying it was impossible for him to be in hospital as I know it affects people very differently. You're quite right, though, if he's been hospitalised with it then a January fight is hopelessly optimistic.

Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. Dillian Whyte II - 30 January 2021
He could have made the same argument about Whyte though, every time he has hit world level (Joshua, Povetkin) he has also lost. It's very subjective.
Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. Dillian Whyte II - 30 January 2021
I agree partly, and although, as you mention it's a fairly subjective categorisation, the argument is there that he could be top of European level by beating all other decent European level opponents that he's faced. However, he has also beaten Parker who had fairly recently been dethroned as the WBO champ. So Whyte is either at the bottom of World level or the top of European level, but the difference in that is more based on semantics rather than skill.
Chisora on the other hand has lost to lower world/higher European level opponents in Pulev, Whytex2, Helenius(robbery I know) and Kabayel, in addition to a fight against Takam where he was well behind before a shock KO.

Parker is world levle and he beat him (but i 100% think parker would of won without that head clash so that completely kills my point)

Joshua wasnt world level at the time, but we knew he would go on be.joshj909 wrote: ↑06 Nov 2020, 07:58I agree partly, and although, as you mention it's a fairly subjective categorisation, the argument is there that he could be top of European level by beating all other decent European level opponents that he's faced. Promoter Not Confident Povetkin Will Be Ready By 1/30 Date For Whyte
Andrei Ryabinsky, promoter for WBC interim-heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin, is not confident that his boxer will ready in time for a tentative date of January 30 for a rematch with Dillian Whyte.
Back in August, Povetkin pulled off a major upset when he knocked Whyte out cold in the fifth round of their clash at the Matchroom Fight Camp in Brentwood.
Whyte would exercise an immediate rematch clause, with a second fight being set down for November 21.
But last week it was revealed that Povetkin had tested positive for COVID-19 and the rematch was immediately postponed.
Povetkin was hospitalized in Russian and received treatment.
Whyte's promoter, Eddie Hearn, mentioned a tentative date of January 30 - but Ryabinsky is not convinced that can happen.
"We will try, but I think that by January 30 Alexander is unlikely to recover," Ryabinsky said to Vasily Konov Jr.
The Russian promoter revealed that Povetkin was discharged from the hospital to continue his recovery at home.
Povetkin is expected to resume training in three weeks - but Ryabinsky cautions that the re-start of his training camp will not begin until his doctor gives him the green light.
Going into the August fight, the 41-year-old Povetkin was a huge underdog and Whyte was the mandatory challenger to the WBC title, which is currently held by Tyson Fury.
Povetkin appeared to be in serious trouble after being dropped two times in the fourth round. But he shocked everyone, when a big uppercut connected out of nowhere - and generated a big knockout where the British boxer went down and out.
