Re: The greatest one punch knockouts in boxing history?
I get what your're saying, but as you also say, the jab was a feint and the left hook was just a typical touch of sportsmanship from the Rock, it was one punch which rendered Walcott limp. I don't want to fall out over it though.

Re: The greatest one punch knockouts in boxing history?
Technically not a one punch KO but the first punch that floored Milton McCrory versus Donald Curry was a beauty...
How about Julian Jackson versus Herol Graham?
Jack Dempsey vs Jack Sharkey was a bit of a cheap shot like Mayweather-Ortiz but it was a great one punch KO as well!

Re: The greatest one punch knockouts in boxing history?
Donaire vs Vic D
Donaire vs Montiel, the last two punches were unnecessary and academic, the huge left hook left him twitching.

Re: The greatest one punch knockouts in boxing history?
The thing that always makes me laugh about that, is that Hasim Rahman was actually told by his corner "When he attacks. Just stick your arms straight out like this here. That stops everything"
That was exactly what he was doing when Lennox Lewis knocked his f*cking block off with that roundhouse right that ended it.
Stupidest f*cking strategy I've ever heard from a Professional Boxer's team.
Re: The greatest one punch knockouts in boxing history?
Yeah. No way in hell I would've let Montiel continue even 1 second after that. He was convulsing on the ground trying to get up for f*cks sake. He's finished.

Wow, I didn't pay attention to this act of pure dumbness. That's just ridiculous.gilgamesh wrote: ↑04 Nov 2020, 15:19The thing that always makes me laugh about that, is that Hasim Rahman was actually told by his corner "When he attacks. Watch the whole fight back. It's worth it for the comedy of this. After I wanna say the 3rd round (maybe the 2nd). Hasim Rahman's corner actually TELLS HIM to do this (The Coach even sticks his arms straight out to show him a physical example of what he means), and he's doing exactly what he was told at the moment he gets knocked out.DrDuke wrote: ↑04 Nov 2020, 15:24Wow, I didn't pay attention to this act of pure dumbness. It's f*cking hilarious.
And how Rahman didn't know that this was a stupid idea says a lot about him too. He actually gets hit with a hard right hand doing this BEFORE the knockout shot in one of the earlier rounds, and he just keeps doing it.
Re: The greatest one punch knockouts in boxing history?
Yeah, I remember Lewis tagging him with the same shots all the night long, while Rahman was taking it with his head going back and arms being thrown straight. I thought, it was a sort of a flaw, from which Rahman just wasn't able to get rid of, but no, it was a f*cking gameplan!gilgamesh wrote: ↑04 Nov 2020, 15:25Watch the whole fight back. Re: The greatest one punch knockouts in boxing history?
That fight actually marks the beginning of my becoming a die hard Boxing fan, and I still to this day have never seen stupider advice from someone's trainer or corner.
I've seen some that comes close, like Mickey Bey being told he needed to go out and win the final round against John Molina in a fight where up to that point he was winning 9 rounds to 0, and he followed this advice, and got himself knocked out in the 10th, but yeah "sticks your arms out. That stops everything" is the single stupidest advice I've ever heard.
