Current top-ten pound-for-pounders?

Post by Enlightened-One »

Here are the current top-ten pound-for-pounders published today by The RING:

1. Canelo Alvarez
2. Naoya Inoue
3. Terence Crawford
4. Oleksandr Usyk
5. Errol Spence Jr.
6. Teofimo Lopez
7. Vasiliy Lomachenko
8. Juan Francisco Estrada
9. Josh Taylor
10. Gennadiy Golovkin

Here are the equivalent ratings from August:

1. Canelo Alvarez
2. Vasiliy Lomachenko
3. Naoya Inoue
4. Terence Crawford
5. Oleksandr Usyk
6. Errol Spence Jr.
7. Gennadiy Golovkin
8. Juan Francisco Estrada
9. Artur Beterbiev
10. Manny Pacquiao

You’ll notice the following changes:

• Artur Beterbiev & Manny Pacquiao have both been dropped from the ratings
• Teofimo Lopez’s victory over Vasiliy Lomachenko resulted in him debuting in 6th place
• Josh Taylor made his long overdue debut in the ratings today, being awarded in 9th place
• Vasiliy Lomachenko was relegated from 2nd to 7th place due to his most recent loss
• GGG was also relegated from 7th to 10th place, possibly due to inactivity and recent form/opposition
• The likes of Terence Crawford, Errol Spence Jr., Oleksandr Usyk and Naoya Inoue were all promoted due to the other changes in these rankings

Does Jermell Charlo and Gervonta Davis deserve to be included in The RING’s top-ten pound-for-pound ratings, possibly displacing Juan Francisco Estrada?

Should GGG be dropped from these ratings, considering many believe he deserved to lose the Canelo rematch and also the IBF title fight against Sergiy Derevyanchenko, which means that more than three years have transpired since the last time he delivered a truly impressive performance against a top-ten world-rated fighter? He hasn't fought for 13 months and doesn't have any plans to compete anytime soon.

Is Terence Crawford 3rd place ranking too high, because like GGG, more than three years have transpired since his most recent performance against a noteworthy top-ten world-rated opponent? And there's almost zero likelihood of this situation changing in the short-term (due to Top Rank's inability to work with the PBC).

Thoughts? :-?

Crawford should be more like 5 or 6.

Lomachenko's losing effort against Teofimo Lopez was more impressive than anything Crawford has done in the last year or so.
