How long do you think boxing can survive in its current format of small tv shows only?

No amatures feeding the pros and no small halls to feed up to the big shows.....

Not really missing the small hall format as 95% of the show is a Journeyman showing up to survive for 4-6 rounds. Goodwin put on some decent fights but never broadcast them online to people who don't go.

The longest it will last like this is a couple of years, maybe 3.

It will fornicate the economics up certainly, but it’s not like there’ll not be any more new boxers. It’s sad and I really missing going to the fights but I don’t think it’s anything it would never recover from.

I had big plans for loads of fights this year myself! it’s so hard to train and keep weight off when you have no idea if you’re gonna even fight and I’m at the lowest novice level, never mind the poor lad who were half way through Olympic qualifiers.

The best motivational shout I heard was from Coldwell (I think) he said “what happens if you’re picked first?” So maybe tell the lads that

A hungry fighter is a good fighter and all that. Driving more young men towards the sport to try and make some money...

It survived two world wars when there were few other distractions.

At the end of the war 'sports' were divvied out to be run by the services. I believe the Army got football and the Navy boxing.

By 1953 the Schools Championships alone had over 53,000 entrants. Today, in total there are less than 10,000 active amateur boxers across both genders and all groups.

More clubs don't hold shows than hold them and fitness boxing dominates the agenda.

Amateur Boxing needs a complete re-think. Yes, it will survive and bounce back to a certain level but how and when remains to be seen.
