Wouldn't say Superstar, something stable around the mid level which would earn him decent paydays and as little physical punishment as possible.TempleSlave wrote: ↑10 Nov 2020, 11:19100%! He got nicked and was being matched in all kinds of weird fights,
When he was coming up he was very good and had all kinds of things to offer short and long term.
Pisses me off seeing wasted talent who could have done better, he is one of them.

For sure he would've been a top attraction in terms of views.Evander wrote: ↑11 Nov 2020, 23:27Wouldn't say Superstar, something stable around the mid level which would earn him decent paydays and as little physical punishment as possible.TempleSlave wrote: ↑10 Nov 2020, 11:19100%! I read that Gamboa has been through a variety of promoters, including Top Rank, SMS Promotion (50 cent), BB promotion (Spain), Oscar's GBP and now with PBC. At least PBC gives Gamboa good fights.
Imagine Gamboa getting those good fights when he was in his prime like JuanMa Lopez, Chris John, Soto, Guerrero, Broner and Rios.

He should have fought Rios.apollo creed wrote: ↑12 Nov 2020, 06:33For sure he would've been a top attraction in terms of views.Evander wrote: ↑11 Nov 2020, 23:27Wouldn't say Superstar, something stable around the mid level which would earn him decent paydays and as little physical punishment as possible.TempleSlave wrote: ↑10 Nov 2020, 11:19

Didn't he abandon a press conference at the last moment or something like that, bad judgment on his behalf as that was beginning to look like a high profile fight at the time.

Re: Yuriorkis Gamboa's career
Maybe Gamboa realized that it's too much for him to be matched with a much bigger opponent in Rios. Gamboa is a small fighter and Rios was a big framed dude compared to Gamboa.Evander wrote: ↑13 Nov 2020, 03:28He should have fought Rios.apollo creed wrote: ↑12 Nov 2020, 06:33For sure he would've been a top attraction in terms of views.

Gamboa fought T.C in 2014 and I guess he did not have any better financial offer than the fight vs T.C or stay and fight low opposition.Evander wrote: ↑14 Nov 2020, 22:30I can buy that.apollo creed wrote: ↑13 Nov 2020, 08:04Maybe Gamboa realized that it's too much for him to be matched with a much bigger opponent in Rios. Really thought he could of become an ATG featherweight.
Solid career but You can’t help but feel he wasted his potential.

He was poorly managed. He could've fought JuanMa , Chris John, Broner and Soto back in the day.black panther wrote: ↑17 Nov 2020, 12:30 Really thought he could of become an ATG featherweight.

That fight would have lit the division up.
