Why do people care? How many 'boxing fans' outside of the online forums etc even know of this new weightclass/belt? How many have heard of WBA heavyweight world champion(?) Manuel Charr?

With a bit of luck Sulaiman will make some cool fights at this 'Bridgerweight'. Cant say i give a shit about his belts but i would pay and stay up late to watch something like Wilder Vs Gassiev..

Stop caring about what the ABC orgs do and remember boxing is about following your favourite fighters and watching entertaining fights..

Within the next two years, the WBA, WBO & IBF would have either already created the new 224lbs division or be in the midst of creating one (or at least considering it).

For four reasons, more belts means the governing bodies will receive more revenue generated by sanctioning fees.

And there is currently a 45lbs void between 200lb cruiserweights and the average 245lbs heavyweight, which continues to grow as time passes by, that needs to be filled somehow.

Fight fans will eventually become accustomed to the new weight class, as it'll inevitably gain credibility at some point within the next decade.

Finally, the new weight class creates more opportunities for the fighters, promoters and networks to stage or compete in title fights. So the vast majority boxing insider's will very likely support the creation of the additional weight class.

This division is rubbish and doesnt tackle the real issues. We needed a 185 pound division and the CW to move to 210 pounds. AJ can make 224, Andy Ruiz can, almost everyone except Fury. A whole division just to exclude 1 man?

As far as the look goes, I prefer the WBA and IBF belts.

I would like it if the other orgs, and the entire sport stood against the WBC ,and basically boycotted them into irrelevance, but that's not going to happen because in a sport of Fighters, everybody is gutless to stand up to these meaningless orgs.

I wouldn't hope for too long.

Once the others see the sanctioning fees rolling in, they'll be launching their own versions of the Bogusweight title.

They're all as bad as each other.
