Vitali Klitschko vs Tomasz Adamek

Adamek was a good boxer with solid fundamentals, but he was a stylistical gift for Klitschko, while he was outmatched in size. Adamek tried to box from the distance, but Klitschko had a reach and height advantage, which he was able to use well. Adamek was outjabbed and hurt with a right hand on multiple occasions. Adamek scored some decent shots early, but gradually he was getting outboxed and beaten up. In the 2nd round Adamek was wobbled and saved by the ropes, the ref mistakenly ignored that. In the 6th that situation repeated and the ref gave Adamek a count. By the 10th round Adamek was already busted up pretty much. In that round Klitschko was battering Adamek with jabs and one-twos, while Adamek was wobbly and wasn't answering. The ref fairly stopped the fight.

Carlos Ortiz vs. Joe Brown.

Another Gene Fullmer-Spider Webb type of bout: not an action packed brawl nor a bore-snoozer completely either. Just a regular type of fight with some great and some sleep-inducing moments.

https://thegruelingtruth.com/boxing/tgt ... los-ortiz/

I had it 149-136 for Ortiz.

Henry Maske vs Iran Barkley

Maske stops Barkley after 9 rounds to retain his World Light Heavyweight title, positive start from Barkley, he was aggressive and was able to rough up the much taller upright Maske, by the 3rd Maske was beginning to take over though, popping out thr southpaw jab and following up with thr left hand and moving out of range, Barkley kept pressing but he was fading after every round, his left eye was shut and by the 9th it was pretty much target practice for Maske who was landing at will, after the 9th Barkley was retired on his stool
Sadly just a bit too late in the day for the always excellent Iran....probably by about 2-3 years.

Felt like one of those fights the wealthy and smart German promoters feasted-on in the 90s and early part of this millenia; bring over a good but ageing champ with too many miles on the clock, pay him extremely well but remain safe in the knowledge that he'll put on a good show but in all likelihood will not take the title home.

Maybe a bit hard on Maske - who could box in a very organised-effective way and was a decent athlete too - but I would have loved to have seen a younger version of Barkley without so many battles-lumps under his belt have a crack at Maske at say the MSG.

Henry Maske vs Graciano Rocchigiani 1+2

Maske beats Rocchigiani by UD to retain his World Light Heavyweight title, close competitive fight, all southpaw, Maske bringing the workrate and Rocchigiani the big shots, all in all the body of work from Maske won on the day, the shoeshine combinations pestered Rocchigiani who was slow in getting his punches off, he did land the big shots though, he hurt Maske in the 9th and had him holding for dear life then in the 12th a big left rocked Maske and had him bundled over, should've been a count but ref called push and Maske got on his bike to see out the win

Maske wins the rematch again by UD and again retaining his title, another close fight but I thought Rocchigiani probably done enough to edge it, he never hurt Maske the way he did in first fight but overall I thought he was more successful, he closed the gap quicker and landed the harder punches, nailed Maske with a few uppercuts through middle, Maske was too negative and his tippy tappy shots done nothing, he was on his bike for too long and was trying to steal the fight, he was a bit more positive down the stretch but not that effective, Rocchigiani didn't land a lot himself but in a boring fight I preferred his work, still Maske got the win

Vitali Klitschko vs Dereck Chisora

Chisora provided the best performance against Klitschko in Vitali's post-hiatus career and it even was a claim to the best losing effort against Vitali overall. It's either Chisora or Sanders. The thing is, Sanders hurt Klitschko most of all, but he ended up stopped. Chisora was scoring a lot on Vitali and was able to hear the final bell, although he didn't have Klitschko in trouble. To both Sanders and Chisora I gave only a round, the 1st and the 8th respectively. Chisora was always pressuring, his head and body movement was decent, he wasn't just eating shots like Peter or Arreola, for example. Also, Chisora was scoring well from time to time, but still Klitschko was in control and he clearly outboxed Chisora.

Floyd Mayweather vs Genaro Hernandez

Mayweather stops Hernandez after 8 one sided rounds to become World Super Featherweight champion, Hernandez pulled out on his stool after a lost cause, he was never in the fight, he tried to throw early but was countered every time and each passing round he was throwing less and less, Mayweather was quality, quick sharp and too fresh for Hernandez

Mayweather used the left hand beautifully whether jabbing or hooking, the lead right hand worked a treat as well and he couldn't miss, Hernandez gave it one last push in the 7th but he just left himself more open and Mayweather turned the screw on him unloading lightening quick combinations, after 8 Hernandez's corner seen enough and rightly pulled their man

Nigel Benn vs Gerald McClellan. rd 1 looked like mcclellan was going to blow benn out in a couple of minutes he put benn threw the ropes on his back ,rd 2 bit of the same to start mcclellan is putting it on benn, benn lands a big shot dont look like its hurt him but you can see mcclellan aint the same from then on benn stars landing some big hooks mcclellan has his hands low looks like he is soaking them up and lands a great straight right on benn in the 3rd more of the same in the 4th benn lands big left hook you see mcc legs go but rides it mcc has no defence i would say you can see he is sluggish from here on , have to say it is mcc low hands that is giving benn success with his hooks , benn is crude but landing big shots as mcc dont have his hands up rd6,mcc has his gum sheild out in the 6th benn soaks up a lot mcc shots on the ropes ducking them ,rd 7 mcc dont look like he wants to come out for it ,mcc had good start the 7th been lands a shot near the end again mcc looks hurt from it ,rd 8 what rd back and forth mcc drops benn , clash of heads in the 9th mcc takes a knee he looks bit out off benn still throwing crudely and getting success ,rd 10 come out trading again untill been drops mcc to his knee. mcc gets up benn comes at him firing mcc takes a knee again reff counts him out, i know the fight had bad imprecations after and very sad i mean no disrespecttalking about it, just never seen it, and it is classic fight in every sense of the meaning

Money got in some nice quality Floyd elbows in round 7 too. Seriously entertaining talent from Mayweather on display though for real. Thanks for this recommendation.

Floyd Mayweather vs Angel Manfredy

Mayweather stops Manfredy in the 2nd to retain his World Super Featherweight title, Mayweather's blinding handspeed again winning on the day, the tone was set seconds into the fight when Mayweather nailed Manfredy with a clean lead right hand, Manfredy tried to get close and attack the body but Mayweather's feet were too quick to get pinned down

In the 2nd Mayweather stunned Manfredy with a right hand, he followed Manfredy onto the ropes unloading both hands, he must've threw 20 unanswered punches, half of them missed but the ones that landed were rocking Manfredy's head back, a left had him sagging onto the ropes and ref should've gave a count but Manfredy got himself up as Mayweather carried on unloading, Manfredy wasnt throwing back and no surprise thr ref stepped in, Manfredy not badly hurt but he wasnt throwing back and really he should've took a knee for respite

Canelo v Lara - had it 115-113 Lara but could see how others had it level or 7-5 Canelo, very close fight but far from a classic despite the quality of both fighters. Lara's negative style caused a number of rounds to have very few clean scoring shots from either man but I thought he did enough to pinch the nod on the cards, despite the lack of action.

Floyd Mayweather vs Emanuel Augustus

Mayweather stops Augustus in the 9th round of a non title Lightweight fight, I know Mayweather regularly says Augustus gave him his toughest fight and although he was a bit of a pest and game, I was expecting it to be a trickier night for Mayweather who was superb, lightening quick, fast combinations, put his punches together superbly all night, the left jab/right cross/left downstairs especially worked a treat, the jab alone was class but it was that lead right hand that was his most effective weapon, time and again he drilled Augustus with it, quality

It was a one sided pasting, Mayweather signalled to his corner he hurt his right hand after the 7th, he came out in the 8th shooting out the jab and doubling and trebling the left hooks, in the 9th after Mayweather landed a couple lefts to head and body, the corner of Augustus threw the towel

Floyd Mayweather vs Phillip Ndou

Mayweather stops Ndou in 7 to retain his World Lightweight title, another masterclass from Mayweather who rode out the occasional dangerous onslaught with ease and dazzled Ndou with speed, variety and precision, the jabs, hooks to the body were class but again it was that lead right hand, doubling and trebling it up with success, round by round Ndou was looking more weary and taking punishment, in the 7th Mayweather put Ndou down with 3 right crosses and although he got up it was waved off, Mayweather showing Ndou levels

Floyd Mayweather vs DeMarcus Corley

Mayweather beats Corley by wide UD in a non title Super Lightweight fight, good fight for some reason I thought this was a snoozer but it was entertaining, Corley never won many rounds but his southpaw style troubled Mayweather occasionally and he hurt him momentarily once or twice, Mayweather was on another level though, aggressive and defensive at the same time, really opened Corley up a few times

Mayweather had Corley down in the 8th, rocked him with an uppercut and the follow up had him turning his back where a Mayweather right hand had him taking a knee, Corley was down again in the 10th, a lightening quick 5 punch combo had him down, right/left/right/left/right, beautiful stuff, Corley is durable as they come though and lasted the course, Mayweather tagged a couple times in the fight but defensively made Corley miss with just about everything, the shoulder roll working a treat, tucking the chin into the left shoulder and nailing Corley with crisp straight rights

Floyd Mayweather vs Sharmba Mitchell

Mayweather stops Mitchell in the 6th of a non title Welterweight bout, another comfortable win for Mayweather, Mitchell was sharp, southpaw and let his hands go TBF but he never landed much, Mayweather went up and down the gears, nailing him with clean punches, put Mitchell down in the 3rd with a lead right then finished him in the 6th with a straight right to the body

Alan Minter vs Vito Antuofermo 1+2

Minter gets off the canvas to win a SD and become World Middleweight champ, tough fight, classic clash of styles, the southpaw boxing of Minter and the rugged brawling of Antuofermo, when it was at range it was Minter who was successful and up close Antuofermo was able to rough Minter up, hard 15 round battle, surprisingly it wasnt until the 12th both men got cut, Antuofermo put Minter down with a left hook in the 14th, looked more balance but Minter got up to win a close split

Minter stops Antuofermo after 8 rounds on cuts in the rematch to retain his titles, nightmare start for Antuofermo, cut to the right eye by a left hand in the 1st, cut above the left eye in the 2nd, his face was a bloody mess all night, he never stopped coming forward but he literally never landed at all, Minter to his credit was quality, walked Antuofermo on to everything, the right jab, left hand, right hooks, just a domination, fight should've been stopped around the 5th, Antuofermo was on a hiding to nothing, only heart keeping him in it, clearly he had no chance of winning, thankfully his corner pulled him after the 8th, Minter brilliant

Michael Moorer vs Alex Stewart

Moorer KOs Stewart in the 4th round of a non title Heavyweight fight, dream start from Moorer putting Stewart down twice in the 1st, right uppercut had Stewart down then a massive left hand had him down at the end of the round, it was a firefight both men throwing bombs, Stewart hurt Moorer in the 2nd and both continued to trade leather, Moorer got Stewart out of there in the 4th, two monster right uppercuts sent him down, he just about made the count but he was goosed

James Broad vs Donnie Long

Styles make fights. Donnie Long’s combinations clashed brilliantly with Broad’s power jab, fierce cross, and clobbering uppercuts to the body. The two went back and forth exchanging blows for ten rounds. I scored it 96-94 for Broad using the ten point system. Official scores using the old rules had it a majority decision.

Michael Moorer vs James "Bonecrusher" Smith

Moorer beats Smith by UD in a non title Heavyweight bout, not a classic by any means but a comfortable win in the end for Moorer, Smith started off promising, landed a few hard looking right hands but by the 4th Moorer was in control outjabbing the bigger man and landing some solid right hooks and left hands, as i say not a classic but anything good came from Moorer and he ran out a clear winner

Mike Tyson vs Jesse Ferguson

Tyson started aggressive with going inside, where the fight remained to be, but it didn't have a lot of clean action. Tyson was majorly throwing single punches. Ferguson wasn't active almost at all. There was quite an amount of wrestling. In the 5th Ferguson tried to boxed, but failed. He was trapped in the corner, where Tyson threw his trademark right to the body - right uppercut to a head. Tyson broke his ba... I mean, Tyson broke Fergusoon's nose with that punch, Jesse went down hard after it. Tyson tried to finish Ferguson off, but failed. In the 6th Ferguson was holding a lot and got DQed. Eventually the result was changed to TKO, as Tyson team apparently wanted to have more KO wins on the record.

Mike Tyson vs Marvis Frazier

Tyson jumped on Marvis and tried to run through him. Marvis felt the power from the first seconds and couldn't suggest anything to being backed up in the corners and to the ropes. Marvis' brief attemps of getting out of this situation weren't successful. Tyson ultimately cornered Marvis with a series of jabs and scored with a sequence of right uppercuts knocking Marvis out cold.

LOL! Took you longer to post about it than the fight did. That was a complete and utter beatdown. One of a few fights I've ever seen where I actually felt sorry for the loser.

Mike Tyson vs Jose Ribalta

Tyson pressed for all time, but Ribalta was tough. It was hard to give Ribalta a round, but he was taking Tyson's punches well, fighting back and tying Tyson up effectively. Ribalta lasted for the 10th and final round, although not for the final bell.

That could be the fight where Tyson's physique and sheer energy is the most obviously suspicious. Especially when you consider his young age.
