If Taylor is being effective, her fights are about as watchable as a bear taking a sh*t in the woods.

BT should be absolutely cleaning up on UK boxing at the moment with the dross Sky are putting on. Why are they not ?
Re: Round-by-Round: Katie Taylor vs. Miriam Gutierrez - 14 November 2020
He's played a part in ruining professional boxing for me but there's more to the decline than him. All we are left with is a lot of talk, and a few fairly crappy boxers with big personalities making a lot of money. Guys like Whyte and Chisora being able to get rich out of boxing is bewildering. Both are not that good at all.

Because BT are serving up worse shows at the moment. Their undercard on Friday night was woeful, the main undercard fight was Tommy Fury against a guy who was 0-11 and all of the undercard fights before that were one-sided.Black Sam Bellamy wrote: ↑15 Nov 2020, 03:09 BT should be absolutely cleaning up on UK boxing at the moment with the dross Sky are putting on. Their main event was unfortunate because of the swelling but I wouldn’t say they’ve had any really good shows since the start of lockdown.
Sky last night had 2 good and competitive men’s fights (Springer vs Hart, Cullen vs Docherty), a fairly good showcase for Farooq and the women’s fights were a mixed bag. I wasn’t fussed at all by the Ball fight, I quite enjoyed the Harper fight and whilst Katie Taylor looked great her opponent was rubbish.
Was it a good show? No. 3 women’s fights at the top of the card didn’t work for me but it’s far from the worst show I’ve seen this year and I easily preferred it to the Friday BT show.

When are networks going to understand that ‘equality’ isn’t going to pay the bills when it comes to the majority of sports

What di that show have the british shows don't ,,, GOOD EVEN 50-50 FIGHTS ,,, although a case could be made about the last one being a bit uneven
Re: Round-by-Round: Katie Taylor vs. Miriam Gutierrez - 14 November 2020
I had high hopes for the Fury card with Yarde v Arthur etc on the undercard but even that’s gone quiet.
Re: Round-by-Round: Katie Taylor vs. Miriam Gutierrez - 14 November 2020
The Warren - Hearn dinner/meeting was never going to happen, all just a PR stunt.

I usually watch live boxing no matter how bad I think the card will be, but I gave this one a miss. Just couldn’t be arsed with yet another night in front of the tv thinking about how I’m wasting my life watching something I’m not enjoying. I’ll happily watch women’s boxing when it’s competitively matched, but not the garbage mismatches that are currently being served up on the regular.

Chantelle Cameron opponent was probably the worse out of the lot during the lockdown, gifted a world title to someone more busy trying to adjust her top during the fight.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑15 Nov 2020, 07:35 I usually watch live boxing no matter how bad I think the card will be, but I gave this one a miss. Dennis Mccann would have had that punchbag out of there in 2 rounds.
Also, boxing isn’t about power.. it’s boxing isn’t it?
Don’t know where this Stanny Anus came from, but he’s not exactly a welcoming type on this forum. Negative vibes on all posts.
You are seriously deluded and biased for your fellow pakistani or just dumb If You seriously honestly think he has any power. When he steps up you'll realise because at European level or above with those feather fists he won't even score a single TKO. Have some honesty, there's no power there whatsoever.
A blind man could see he lacks power there, he had a punchbag in front of him and he couldn't get him out of there.
And you don't know much yourself if you think power isn't one of the most important things. Dennis Mccann would go through that punchbag last night like hot knife going through butter.

Kash farooq = the asian Paul Butler. And Butler was probably the weakest world champ weve ever had.
Re: Round-by-Round: Katie Taylor vs. Miriam Gutierrez - 14 November 2020
Sven Ottke made a good career having zero power (that mundine ko was the most freak ko i have ever seen) did have ref/judges on his side but still made it to world championship level.

Yeh, guys like Sweat Pea just boxed. Pac went nearly 10 years without a KO win, but he still managed to outbox most boxers and win.
Many more. Power is important, but it’s all that’s needed to be a successful boxer.

Didn’t watch this dross I recorded it but couldn’t even raise the energy to watch it, and after reading this thread I’m deleting it.

I wonder who SKY/Hearn thought last nights bill with 3 womens fights would appeal to ? I can only imagine that they were cheap fights to book
Re: Round-by-Round: Katie Taylor vs. Miriam Gutierrez - 14 November 2020
Makes me laugh how Hearn keeps saying it was a ‘historic event’. The only historic thing about it is it was probably the worst card in history.

Over 2 million in UK and Ireland view Katie Taylor’s Big Night
Katie Taylor’s masterful Undisputed Lightweight World Title defense against Miriam Gutierrez at The SSE Arena, Wembley drew more than 2 million views across the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Sky Sports made the historic World Title triple-header, featuring Terri Harper and Rachel Ball, available to all customers and non-subscribers alike via multiple digital platforms, including their YouTube channel, Facebook page, and website.
The fight generated more than 1.5 million views on Facebook, 550k on Sky Sports’ YouTube live stream, and across Sky Sports’ website and apps, there were 227k views, with over 600k viewers on Sky Sports’ TV platform, making it a bumper night for new audiences.
As part of Sky Sports’ commitment to women’s sport – first announced back in March – the move came intending to ensure elite women’s sport is more widely available to the public by increasing its existing coverage and strengthening its digital output.
Irish star Taylor looked phenomenal as she completely outclassed her WBA mandatory challenger in the evening’s main event, dropping the tough Spaniard in the fourth round on route to a unanimous decision that improved her unbeaten record to 17-0.
In the night, Denaby’s WBC and IBO Super-Featherweight ruler Harper stopped Norway’s Katharina Thanderz in nine rounds to retain her belts. Ball picked up the Interim WBC Super-Bantamweight World Title by outpointing Argentina’s Jorgelina Guanini.
Matchroom Sport Managing Director Eddie Hearn said: “What a night and what a monumental moment on Saturday. This huge audience got to see a great night of boxing and a performance of pound-for-pound quality. We have made tremendous strides in women’s boxing, but the job is still only half done. Together with these great athletes, we will continue to push the boundaries.”
Adam Smith, Sky Sports’ Head of Boxing Development, said: “We’re thrilled with the fantastic viewing figures, on all platforms, for a truly momentous evening of women’s title fights, topped by Katie Taylor’s masterful performance.
“Rachel Ball produced a fantastic win, the launchpad for her to pursue World Titles, while Terri Harper was composed and clinical in her defense of the WBC Super-Featherweight belt. It was then Katie Taylor’s time to produce a punch perfect display. Simply dazzling.
“Katie is an unbelievable ambassador for the sport, and we decided to stream her historic fight night for free, a sign of our long-term commitment to women’s sport with Matchroom. We’ve started something special as we continue to showcase the best talent in women’s boxing on Sky Sports.”

Pernell Whitaker could punch reasonably enough mate, he just did everything else so we’ll it’s not always noted. He certainly wasn’t a puncher at world level That’s totally true but against Nazario and Hurtardo he showed some good power.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑15 Nov 2020, 08:10Yeh, guys like Sweat Pea just boxed. You're not always gonna be knocking out World level fighters anyway, compared to when you're rising up the ranks.Delta Jay wrote: ↑19 Nov 2020, 06:43Pernell Whitaker could punch reasonably enough mate, he just did everything else so we’ll it’s not always noted. Look at Mayweather.. When he returned in 2009.. The only boxer he knocked out was Ortiz, and guarantee even that would have gone thte distance. He was haappy to just box.. How many power shots did he even throw that actually had power behind them?
Josh Warrington carried power, but only has 7 stoppage wins in around 30 fights.
You don't need power to succeed in boxing, but it does help.

Totally agree, it seems the clever boxers don’t always chase the KO and get a longer career out of it.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑19 Nov 2020, 06:47You're not always gonna be knocking out World level fighters anyway, compared to when you're rising up the ranks.Delta Jay wrote: ↑19 Nov 2020, 06:43Pernell Whitaker could punch reasonably enough mate, he just did everything else so we’ll it’s not always noted.
