But he sparred Usyk before he was meant to fight Hammer so why didn’t he retire then?Controversial wrote: ↑15 Nov 2020, 12:38 He’s posted a video saying Usyk knocked him out in sparring and that prompted his decision to retire.

If any kid has what it takes he‘ll find his own slot. Same as Dave Allen found his. If Dave Allen is everything wrong with boxing, it must be a different sport to the one I‘ve been watching for the past 30-35 years.
Re: Dave Allen Retires!
Completely agree, absolutely anyone can make something of themselves in boxing regardless of background or skill level, he’s taken his lumps and provided some entertainment so fair play to him, too many folk quick to pass judgement from the safety of their living rooms, sat on their fat arses and lacking the kind of bottle it needs to get in a ring and lay yourself bare like Allen has.
Re: Dave Allen Retires!
He had zero dedication and got rewarded for it for talking crap online.
Re: Dave Allen Retires!
Don't go at Usyk hands down!
Re: Dave Allen Retires!
Allen was there preparing Usyk for the impending fight with Chisora, so wouldn't Usyk have wanted his sparring partners attempting Chisora's style?
When have we ever seen Chisora doing all that hands down nonsense Allen is attempting?
(Rhetorical question, NEVER)
Re: Dave Allen Retires!
Usyk a class act there, looking after Dave Allen
Re: Dave Allen Retires!
Cannot believe the coverage this 'news' is getting, even the BBC and Sun are carrying the story.

Lot of hate for a guy thats fought better Opposition than most of the top 10, sparred 100s of rounds with AJ and Fury and other top top fighters, Headlined the O2, has been trying to train some mid/low lelvel guys that wouldent get help elsewhere, and is retireing at a sensible time, rather than get beaten till he is a vegitable.
Sure he was bad at training for his fights, probably wasnt good at getting motivated to train. its something your not good at, cant just change that because you want to. Its like priceys/kahns chin, Ruizs gut, Joyces speed, DDDs charisma.. Im sure for there boxing carrer they would like to be able to swap that attribute with someone elses, but you cant just magically do that.

Agreed. His last fight where the bookies wouldn't pay out because it was thought to have been fixed was dodgy. The gambling commission investigated the fight and I'm not sure of their findings? I remember finding this article where a girl placed a bet on Allen rd 3 and the payout got reversed due to the bookies investigating if the fight was fixed. I wonder if she got the money in the end?

Good on Usyk for holding back, can you imagine if that was Mike Tyson, he would've loaded up and flattened him. Thats how sparring should be.

The American gyms do seem to be more about taking the opponent out in sparring.Controversial wrote: ↑16 Nov 2020, 05:53Good on Usyk for holding back, can you imagine if that was Mike Tyson, he would've loaded up and flattened him. Thats how sparring should be.
Heard quite a few stories of gym wars there, The Kronk was famous for it

He needs a plan, one day he will be too old - he is a heavyweight too - how long can he take that kind of punishment whilst keeping hold of his health?
He needs to stash it away and re-train at something.
He seems a nice enough fella, so good luck to him.
