decagon, u horribly underate harold johnson go watch some film of johnson in the mid 1950s his peak, wut a fighter. top 10 material easy. i cant see many light-H in history beating a peak harold johnson.
harold johnson at his peak would beat bivins IMO clearly. in fact a very young green harold johnson beat bivins
joey maxim over harold johnson is a joke, harold johnson would have given maxim a boxing lesson
if there was no archie moore in the 1950s, harold johnson would have been champ the whole decade

8. Tommy Loughran
9. Roy Jones
10. Maxie Rosenbloom (I've got a weak spot for the pure boxers....)
I see Harry Greb as a middleweight, otherwise he'd come in at about #5. I'm unsure about Langford's placement - he could be a high as #1.

he wasnt so shot, but he was defintley past his prime. plus harold johnson wasnt at his peak eitherDecagon wrote:Bivins was so shot in 1949.BrocktonBlockbuster49 wrote:i dont have grudges against anyone here, i just dont like his harold johnson pick and the fact that he has joey maxim and jimmy bivins over himsockdollanger wrote:Im starting to think Brockton doesnt like you Decagon.
wasnt it you who said that 26 year old jimmy bivins who hadnt lost in 3 years was past his prime when walcott beat him in 1946?
thats all u need to do is watch the film to realize prime for prime johnson would beat bivins
bivins is a bit robotic and slow on film. bivins was an excellent textbook very intelligent boxer. but johnson was more mobile, more versatile, and much faster. bivins wouldnt be able to get away from johnsons jab

great efforts but why is billy conn so low, i cant picture hardly any light-H in history being able to beat a peak connLes Darcy wrote:1. Ezzard Charles

Harold Johnson would probably be next.
Pretty much the reasons Decagon pointed out. In my pound-for-pound list, Conn is higher then some of the guys ahead of him in that list, but he didn't do enough at light heavyweight to get any higher. I'd probably have Conn higher on a head-to-head list, but I don't take a lot of that into account because its so subjective.BrocktonBlockbuster49 wrote:great efforts but why is billy conn so low, i cant picture hardly any light-H in history being able to beat a peak connLes Darcy wrote:1. wut about his near win over a prime joe louis, the greatest heavyweight of all time??Decagon wrote:Conn's resume at 175 isn't that strong. Film footage is an excellent way to gague a fighter's worthiness, but beating Betina, Lesnivich, a bunch of middleweights and a couple of heavyweights isn't enough to warrant a top-five ranking, especially when nearly everyone else in the top 10 has a stronger resume at 175.BrocktonBlockbuster49 wrote:great efforts but why is billy conn so low, i cant picture hardly any light-H in history being able to beat a peak connLes Darcy wrote:1. conn between bettina twice. bettina was a very good fighter. bettina went 1-1-1 with ur # 12 ranked light-H of all time jimmy bivins
melio bettina is a very underated fighter. bettina beat tiger jack fox, harry bobo, eddie blunt, jimmy bivins, hatchetman sheppard, buddy walker,
bettina a white guy was cleaning out the best most highly avoided negroes in the light-H and heavyweight division
