Canelo fighting in December
Which champion/belt holder in their right mind would fight Canelo with only six weeks to prepare? I really doubt that Canelo will fight in December. I am sure Canelo had to pay at least $50 million (GBP learnt their lesson after letting Floyd buy his contract for $750,000) to terminate his contracts with Golden Boy and DAZN. Canelo needs a big money fight. It will probably be a PPV fight and fighting a scrub just won't sell tickets.

Hell why would it need to be a Champion?
Dude has faced the toughest schedule of any active Boxer in the last few years. Why not get him a gimme, and he can fight another one in February or March or whatever on the way to a big matchup on Cinco De Mayo Weekend.
Used to happen all the time, and if any big name fighter has earned a gimme without any scrutiny based on their schedule it'd be Canelo.
I for one doubt he'll fight in December. If they haven't got a name by now, they likely ain't gonna get one, and if they do it'll have to be a guy that will never again see an opportunity like that again, and can't say no.

Canelo is a free agent/self promoted. Nobody will buy PPV against a no-name right before Christmas.

Canelo filed a lawsuit against GBP - not the other way around.Fightdoctor wrote: ↑17 Nov 2020, 10:53I am sure Canelo had to pay at least $50 million (GBP learnt their lesson after letting Floyd buy his contract for $750,000) to terminate his contracts with Golden Boy and DAZN.
The lawsuit was dropped, due to GBP terminating their contract with Canelo.
Canelo never had a contract with DAZN.
Canelo is likely to compete on DAZN for his December outing.

Re: Canelo fighting in December
Actually Canelo had a 11 fight contract with DAZN to the tune of $365 million. The reason why Canelo dropped the lawsuit was that he would tied up in litigation for at least another year (and if he fought during this time he would still be contractually obliged to GPB)and there was no guarantee that he would win the lawsuit. Canelo was GBP's cash cow. Of course Canelo would have pay dearly to be released from the contract. Do you really believe that GBP would allow Canelo to just walk away? Canelo will definitely not be fighting on DAZN anytime soon since he just screwed them. Canelo's only option is to fight on PPV but he will need a worthy opponent to do so. Even Canelo's most ardent fans would not pay to see him fight another Rocky Fielding.

Did "anytime soon" mean he won't be fighting on DAZN in November?Fightdoctor wrote: ↑17 Nov 2020, 15:25 Actually Canelo had a 11 fight contract with DAZN to the tune of $365 million.
