Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 28 November 2020
7 senior fights, he had lots junior....apparently wasnt very big for most of that and so was able to get lots of fights, then had a big growth spurt not too long before going senior
dub is always depicted as green but he's been boxing since he was young and had plenty of am fights, he just turned pro early so didnt do much as an am as an adult, although he still won an english national title and beat the guy who won the abas later that year after dub turned over (solomon dacres)
i think dub managed to get ranked #1 in the country as a senior even in so little fights, though admittedly there werent really many strong dudes on the circuit. frazier clarke was on the podium squad and competing seperately internationally....clarke admits dub dropped him in sparring btw

Joe Joyce: I'm Insulted With Bookmaker Odds, Treating Me Like a Journeyman
JOE JOYCE has revealed he feels “insulted” by bookmakers who fancy him as the underdog in his upcoming battle with ‘Dynamite’ Dubois.
Speaking to The Queensberry Lowdown, Presented by Unibet, Joyce explained that the way he has been overlooked has left him feeling like a mere journeyman.
Currently, Unibet themselves have Daniel Dubois as the 2/9 favourite, whilst ‘Juggernaut’ is an outside bet at 3/1 to emerge victorious.
It is expected that the fight will be an explosive affair, too, with Unibet offering just 3/10 on the fight not going the distance.
“To be honest, I feel a bit insulted” said Joyce, “the way the bookies have it is just crazy. It’s like I haven’t done anything and I’m just a journeyman.
“It’s like I’m the underdog.”
Olympic Silver medallist Joyce is confident the bookies have got it wrong, and vowed that “people who bet on me will have a nicer Christmas.”
At 35-years-old, and with a wealth of amateur pedigree, Joyce believes his experience will be what gives him the edge over 23-year-old Dubois.
“I’ve performed at a higher level, so that psychologically gives me an edge,” said Joyce. “We’ll see on the night if it’s going to be the young, hungry pup or the more seasoned veteran.”
Joyce received criticism for his physique earlier this year when he boxed Michael Wallisch.
Though ‘Juggernaut’ would come through that test with flying colours, advancing his record to 11-0 in the process, many fans and pundits questioned his career high weight of 270lbs.
Any fears he may come in for the Dubois scrap equally chunky seem to have been allayed though, with a series of social media posts this week showing off his impressive abs.
Joyce didn’t reveal what he planned to weigh come fight night, but he did turn the tables on young Dubois by questioning his own increasing size.
Daniel weighed in at 231lbs for his debut in 2017, whereas when he took out Dutchman Ricardo Snijders in August at the BT Studios he was a whopping 244lbs.
“(Daniel) looks great. He looks hench mate, he looks massive.
“But it’s not all about size or how good your body looks in the boxing ring. He’s got big muscle mass, so it’s going to be hard to keep throwing shots.”
However “insulted” he may feel, Joe’s new slim line body is clearly a testament to the work he’s been putting in at the gym and he believes preparations couldn’t have been better as he readies himself to beat not just Dubois but the odds too.
“Camp has gone great and I’m firing on all cylinders.”

If Joyce is as confident as he says he is then surely he’d want to be “insulted” by the long odds the bookies are laying on him.

3/1 on Joyce seems generous to me. I think if I were a betting man I’d back him quite heavily at those odds.

Joyce to win in rounds 7-12 is 9/1. I'm tempted by those odds. Is he being heavily overlooked here?Counter-puncher wrote: ↑21 Nov 2020, 13:02 3/1 on Joyce seems generous to me. I think if I were a betting man I’d back him quite heavily at those odds.

Dubois is one dimensional but he is a monster. You know exactly what he's going to do and how he's going to do it but you do with a steam roller too. Stop one of them things when it's coming at you. Fury or Usyk have the savvy to run round the side, climb up the steps and take the key out. The rest aren't that bright. I think he'll catch up with Joe providing he can hold a shot himself and/or doesn't get giddy and blow up trying too hard. Like I say, only Fury and Usyk would have an easy night against DDD. They would clown him. Everybody else would know they'd been in a fight because everybody else is one dimensional too* and Dubois is way more of a beast than some, a bit more of beast than others and on a par with the rest.

This fight is surely going to descend into a shootout at some point in the first round. God knows what happens then. I wouldn’t be lumping wonga on any outcome .
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 28 November 2020
Hah yeah with a drop less pace involved.
Dubois is the rightful favourite as he has the speed and variety, but I just think that chin is going to be a disaster at some point. Let’s see if it’s going to be this fight.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 28 November 2020
I don't think, it correct to call him one-dimensional. Of course, this thing is yet to be proved, but for the moment he's shown that he can deliver his power with a variety of punches. We gotta see him against someone good defensively to be sure, if Dubois is really able to deliver it with many ways.
And I think, that Joyce is hittable enough, so he'll get iced.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 28 November 2020
He telegraphs everything though, no? Like boxing by numbers. That's not to underestimate him, he's tremendously strong and powerful. I'd not want to be within a mile of one of those right hands.

Dubois is easy to hit too, I think it's just as feasible that Joyce could lay Dubois out early.
I think people are falling in love with Dubois and his power, and it reminds me of all the hype that was around David Price back in the day. His record is too slim at the moment to say he's going to carry it through the ranks.

This is one of those situations where the odds are too high, so the value is there, but I still can’t place that bet because deep down I think Dubois will win.

Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 28 November 2020
Has Dubois had his chin tested yet, I've not seen all his fights?
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 28 November 2020
The Lartey shot sticks in my head when I assess future Dubois fights. It seemed to wake him up but he was very, very open and a better opponent would've capitalised more than Lartey. Its just whether the opponent to capitalise is someone of Joyce's calibre or better. I don't think Joyce will fold Dubois in half because he doesn't have that power but the quantity and quality of shots might make Dubois slowly crumble. That's pretty much how I predict this one will go. Wouldn't bet my house on it though.

A lot on here knew Pricey was chinny way before the KO loss, regardless of the great white hype: the way he was alarmingly ko’d in the am’s spelt glass chin a mile off.
We’ve not seen that with DD, lartey shook him a bit, because going by memory he walked onto a full blooded heavyweight shot; but I’d say his reaction, where we weren’t entirely sure he was hurt, was a good one, and indicates a decent chin...but you can never tell for sure.. it’s gonna be very interesting on Saturday night.
Does Joe hit that hard ? He clubs away heavily yes...

However you will need to catch the Olympian at least hard enough to discourage him as he will keep on coming, he is a very big man, throws plenty of those heavy clubbing shots, can't see many choosing to fight him, big respect to DDD for fancying the job
