Re: Heavyweights : Floyd Patterson vs. Tyson Fury
I'm going to go against the grain in this one and pick Patterson by UD. His speed wins the day. Now excuse me while I duck under my desk to avoid any thrown boxing type projectiles (flying gloves, mouthpieces, spit buckets, etc.) that may be tossed in my direction.
Re: Heavyweights : Floyd Patterson vs. Tyson Fury
Fury would have advantages both outside and inside. Patterson had only advantages of power, handspeed and explosivess, but he would have tons of problems of delivering it. He would have to time something big, going from the mid-range, if he would be allowed to be there and feel comfortable. Anyway, Patterson also was quite vulnerable because of his chin issues, while Fury's power would be enough to hurt Floyd. Fury would keep Patterson outside with the superior jab and movement and maul Patterson inside with the dirty boxing and size.
Fury by TKO inside 8.
Fury by TKO inside 8.
Re: Heavyweights : Floyd Patterson vs. Tyson Fury
Fury would be better off to run down Patterson, and just overwhelm him with his size and strength, and if he tries to be a slick boxer here Patterson's speed would give him fits in spots.
Ultimately I figure Fury would figure out what he needs to do to win, but he would make it easier or more difficult depending on which strategic approach he takes.

Re: Heavyweights : Floyd Patterson vs. Tyson Fury
Fury would use his size to control the fight, lean on Floyd to make him tired etc. The only advantage that Floyd has is his speed, his power might be slightly better as well. Fury sucks compared to some of the guys Floyd fought but he is much bigger so I doubt that really matters. Floyd was a small HW back in the 60's. At 190lbs he about the same size as a LHW these days. Floyd could potentially catch Fury and hurt him, it has to be early on before Fury saps all his energy. I would give Floyd a punchers chance but I think the 60-90lbs difference, 8 inches in height and 14 inches in reach are too much to overcome.

Re: Heavyweights : Floyd Patterson vs. Tyson Fury
We love Patterson for as good as he was as champion, but great in his own right, but Fury's size would be too much for Patterson to handle.
Fury TKO 10

Patterson not good enough to overcome size
