George 'Sugar' Costner
-Running up a tremendous winning streak when he tackled Sugar Ray Robinson, who didn't take kindly to George's usage of his nickname. Sugar Ray blew him out in the 1st round.
-5 years later, George, amid another win streak and is now the #2 welterweight contender in the world, again signs to fight Sugar Ray. But welterweight champ Sugar Ray Robinson only signs for a non-title. And again blows out George in the 1st round.
-George's last 3 fights are arguably his finest wins over Kid Gavilan, Charley Cotton and Ike Williams. But he is forced to retire due to failing eyesight due to detached retinas incurred in his 1949 bout with Chico Varona where he suffered incredibly harsh headbutts.
-Medical science not being what it is today, George goes completely blind.
-Sightless George suffers another injury when he walks the wrong way off an unfenced porch.
-Having purchased his Mother a house with his ring earnings he always thought he would have that property to fall back on. Unfortunately for George, he put the house in his Mother's name and upon her death, she left the house to a daughter.
Not 'quite' as unlucky as Mike Tyson, but it's up there.

Alberto Davila had horrible luck in his boxing career. He lost three cracks at the world bantamweight title against Carlos Zarate, Jorge Lujan and Lupe Pintor respectively and when he did finally win a world title against Kiko Bejines, the Mexican died three days later. Davila then made one solitary defence of his world title before he injured his back in his day job and had to relinquish. He was later robbed against Frankie Duarte in a rematch and lost two cracks at his old world title against Miguel Lora, who was an outstanding champion.

Billy Graham. At heavy Golota beat Ruiz and Byrd and couldn’t get the decisions (maybe after all the insanity he brought on himself).

Matt Franklin was a Foundling
( he was named after the bridge that he was found on in Philadelphia)
he later changed his name to Matthew Saad Muhammad.
