Will Canelo unify at 168 in 2021 ?
What do you think ? Why ?
Re: Will Canelo unify at 168 in 2021 ?
Isn't he about to unify in December? He's fighting Callum Smith right? Doesn't Callum Smith have a belt?

Re: Will Canelo unify at 168 in 2021 ?
I would prefer Jermall Charlo fight over Caleb Plant and David Benavidez
Re: Will Canelo unify at 168 in 2021 ?
I thought they found one to give him when he fought Fielding. Isn't that what they basically do in Boxing? Just make a fight a title fight because a star is in it?gregregegg wrote: ↑26 Nov 2020, 17:08Yea but canelo dosent have a real 168 belt. this will be his first.
Re: Will Canelo unify at 168 in 2021 ?
Probably Plant matchup will be next. Anyway, the likes of Plant and Saunders seem more realistic than Charlo or Golovkin again. So, probably Canelo will go for the unification after Smith.
Re: Will Canelo unify at 168 in 2021 ?
If he beats Smith I hope he vacates the belt shortly afterwards then fights another title holder for whatever belt they hold.
One fee for a random plastic dust collector nobody cares about is enough.
No need to unify, just keep taking plastic from other plastic holders, get rid of it, go take another one.
There are enough belts out there for Canelo to do that for the rest of his career and never fight for the same trinket twice.

Somebody that's the type of star that Canelo is could be the one to make that difference in Boxing. Beat the Champion. Therefore effectively discrediting his title, and claim to being "Champion" and just don't take his belt. Toss it, or don't even accept it. Then even if they have some other schmuck fight for the vacant belt. Who gives a sh*t? You've made your point. You're the Champion.
F*ck all the Alphabet gang.

He won the WBA regular vs feilding, which is trash. and when he fights smith for the real WBA then the reg will go vacant. so he will only have 1 belt going into 2021 (assuming he wins).gilgamesh wrote: ↑26 Nov 2020, 17:53I thought they found one to give him when he fought Fielding. Right. So a made up title because he was a star. Got it.gregregegg wrote: ↑26 Nov 2020, 20:01He won the WBA regular vs feilding, which is trash. and when he fights smith for the real WBA then the reg will go vacant. so he will only have 1 belt going into 2021 (assuming he wins).gilgamesh wrote: ↑26 Nov 2020, 17:53I thought they found one to give him when he fought Fielding. OK, so apart from your blatantly apparent dislike of Canelo, what’s your point and how does it relate to the topic of this thread?gregregegg wrote: ↑26 Nov 2020, 20:01 He won the WBA regular vs feilding, which is trash. and when he fights smith for the real WBA then the reg will go vacant. so he will only have 1 belt going into 2021 (assuming he wins).
This is pretty much a rhetorical question, since what you’ve just said is clearly irrelevant, but your primary agenda is to portray Canelo in a negative light, regardless as to whether or not your accusations bear any resemblance to reality.
I strongly suspect you’ll feel slightly embarrassed about what you’ve just written, though you’ll definitely refrain from admitting it.
I expect you to respond with a personal insult, because let’s face it, you can’t seriously pretend that anything I’ve claimed is untrue?

Ok, so either you have had a really rough day or you have misread what iv said. either way ill let it slide. I dont really dislike canelo. He is my p4p number 1. but I dont consider WBA "regular" a real world title, so i dont consider doing anything with it unifying. someone mentioned that he would already have unified at 168 in 2020, in responce i said not really, because he will only have the WBA (real) belt going into 2021 so yes the question will be "will he unify in 2021?" (personaly i think he will.)

It’s not really like that, but if someone has a track record of disliking the person that is the topic of the thread, then it’s reasonable to ask them what relevance their remark has to the subject being discussed.
Canelo will either unify the 168lbs titles during 2021 or he won’t.

So i made a joke about him doping... probably because he got caught doping. dosent mean i dont like him (although i do not like the fact he was doping).Enlightened-One wrote: ↑27 Nov 2020, 01:45OK, so apart from your blatantly apparent dislike of Canelo, what’s your point and how does it relate to the topic of this thread?gregregegg wrote: ↑03 May 2020, 07:52 Canelo Is currently eating 50KGs of street meat a Day and has a weird call history to some ex russian Olympic officials, and his new best mate lance armstrong.
But ok my feelings for canelo aside. this is how the convo went (paraphrased off the top of my head.)
main question "will canelo unify 2021"
Person x "Isnt he about to unify in 2020"
Me "No smith has a belt but canelo dosent have a real 168 belt"
Person x "i thought he got one vs feilding"
Me "no that was wba reg so its trash, 2020 he will win his first real 168 belt (if he wins) and then 2021 he will have the opportunity to unify"
How can you not see how my comments are related to this thread?
Re: Will Canelo unify at 168 in 2021 ?
Canelo will want to prove a point that his does not have to fight on Dazn. I reckon he will fight Plant as well and will probably do very good PPV numbers in unifying.
Re: Will Canelo unify at 168 in 2021 ?
I think Canelo is done at 160. If Charlo wants him it will have to be at 168, to Canelo’s advantage. He won’t honor his talk about a third fight with GGG.
He will campaign at 168 and effectively dominate the division. He was already talking a fight with BJS before COVID wrecked the sport. I’ve heard a boxing writer in a pod saying he wants Murata in Japan. I assume he’ll make Murata fight at super middle. That’s two fights for him next year already.

C smith is ring champ at 168. Because him & george groves were considered 1&2 at one time through the tournament.
Is it fair to say that the winner will be the legit 168lb champion? Especially adding canelo's star power from 160&175.

Re: Will Canelo unify at 168 in 2021 ?
This is not a good idea. All it accomplishes is allowing other fighters to run around calling themselves a champion without having to fight anyone. Short of getting rid of belts, the best thing is for a unified champion.Perseus wrote: ↑26 Nov 2020, 18:41 If he beats Smith I hope he vacates the belt shortly afterwards then fights another title holder for whatever belt they hold.
