He left at the end of October for three weeks to train other fighters he has commitments with. Daft.

Is that not a bit unusual to let your trainer disappear for 3 weeks prior to the biggest fight of your career ? Or will all salas’ expertise have paid dividends earlier in the camp and Joe is just fine tuning things on the last month ?
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 28 November 2020
I think it's a bad idea full stop. In some ways I respect Salas for not letting his other fighters down and Joyce probably would have trained over there were it not for Covid but given the circumstances, it was always a bad call.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 28 November 2020
It's so scary to read these posts related to f*cking covid in the context of this thread. If this fight gets postponed again and especially now, during the fight week, I'll be f*cking pissed off as everyone.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 28 November 2020
Salas was tested before he got into the bubble. The fight will happen. Joyce being a bit more mature than some will be able to cope losing his trainer but it's far from ideal however it is dressed up.

He obviously thought going to the gyms of America and getting two long haul flights was definitely going to be safe.

I don't see Joyce winning on points. He is too slow and has no size or homering advantage here. Dubois is simply too fast and win by at least 4 points or get a ko win.

Joyce is huge, a massive fella.
Dubois is a unit too and then you put Joyce next to him and think hang on a minute. Joyce is naturally bigger, there's a fair amount of muscle on the Dubois frame.
Joyce is slow and ponderous, but i'd argue he's a more naturally gifted athlete even giving the years away as he is. He's agile actually, it still surprises me when he does the capoeira.

His punches do seem slow and clubbing at times, he doesn’t load up but he is accurate and does damage. He could sping a shock here.Twinkle Toes wrote: ↑27 Nov 2020, 04:28 Joyce is huge, a massive fella.

Would Usyk beat Joyce over the championship distance?
I'm sure the Ukranian would have a points lead going into the later rounds

Joyce 18st 6lbs
Dubois 17st 6lbs
Dubois 17st 6lbs
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 28 November 2020
Both looked in tip top shape a the weigh in
I think Joyce came in about a stone heavier than Dubois, 18st plus to 17st plus.
Cannot wait
