Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Jeyson Minda - November 27, 2020
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Nicolas Masseroni in Play For November 21
Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is not planning to hang up the gloves any time soon.
Last month, Chavez Jr. suffered an unexpected loss when he dropped a unanimous technical decision to undefeated Mario Cazares.
After the fight, Chavez Jr. complained about the scores and the officiating.
The fight was cut short, and went to the judges, when Chavez Jr. suffered a bad cut above his eye from an accidental clash of heads. Chavez Jr. claimed the head clash was intentional - but Cazares claims the cut in question was created by a legal punch.
It was the second defeat in a row for the Mexican fighter, who was already coming off a TKO defeat at the hands of Daniel Jacobs from December of 2019.
According to Chavez Jr, he is currently training for a super middleweight fight with Argentine boxer Nicolas Masseroni on November 21 in Sinaloa, Mexico.
Masseroni, who has a record of 19-1 with all 19 wins coming by knockout, has never faced a boxer with the experience level of Chavez Jr. Most of his wins were against overmatched opponents.
While the bout is set for super middleweight, that could very well change when the fight draws closer.
Chavez's last two fights have taken place at light heavyweight - but they were initially scheduled to take place at the super middleweight limit of 168-pounds. In both bouts, the weight limit was changed after Chavez expressed concerns with making the required limit.
In June of last year, the 28-year-old Masseroni was stopped in eight rounds by Uriel Gonzalez, who had previously been knocked out in two rounds by Jaime Munguia at 154-pounds, and also suffered a KO loss in one to Steven Butler.
Masseroni has won his last two fights, both by knockout in one.

Chavez Jr. vs. Masseroni Pushed Back To November 27
Former WBC world middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. confirmed on Monday that his fight against Argentine Nicolas Masseroni will now take place next Friday, November 27, in the same capital of Sinaloa, after initially being scheduled for this coming Saturday, November 21.
The son of a legend explained that one of the reasons that his fight was delayed was to allow his opponent to have additional time to make the light heavyweight limit.
Chavez Jr. also reported that the event will not take place in the gym he is building, but in the "Juan S. Millán" Sports Center in the Revolution Park, where the Mexican boxer incidentally had his first fight as a professional in 2003.
Chávez thanked the municipal president Jesús Estrada Ferreiro for facilitating the event.
In addition, another reason for changing the venue is to have a greater capacity for fans.
He added that the event will take into account all of the necessary health measures for COVID-19, with only around 600 fans being allowed to attend.
Chavez Jr. continued training in Culiacán, after losing a shock decision to Mario Cazares in September in Tijuana.
He's looking to halt a two-fight losing streak, as he suffered a stoppage defeat at the hands of Daniel Jacobs in December of last year.
His opponent, Masseroni, has a 19-1 record and all of his victories have been defined by knockout.
A press conference is scheduled for this Wednesday in Culiacán, where Chávez Jr. will announce the details of the event and answer questions from reporters.
Undefeated Juan Luis Aldana will fight on the card , as well as Karen Rubio, both hailing from the capital of Sinaloa.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Open To Facing Gilberto Ramirez in 2021
Former WBC middleweight world champion Julio César Chavez Jr. appeared at a press conference on Wednesday and advised the press in attendance that he prepared very hard for his upcoming fight with Argentine contender Nicolás Masseroni, in the main event bout taking place next Friday, November 27, in the Revolución Park, in the capital of Sinaloa.
Chavez Jr. will look to snap a two fight losing streak.
During a press conference that took place at a restaurant in Culiacán, Chávez said that currently he is no longer interested in fighting for a world championship, because he only wants to face great fighters
"I think that in 2021 we will try to fight early in the year, maybe twice, and after another two more fights, look for something in May or September if there is any opportunity to fight for a championship... but no, I am no longer interested in just fighting for the championships. world championships.... what I want is to fight with the best, that's what I would look for, big fights," Chavez Jr. said.
At the announcement, Chavez ho was accompanied by Karim Arce, nephew of Jorge "Travieso" Arce, and Karen Rubio, who will also fight on this card.
He confirmed that his fight against Nicolás Masseroni will be at the light heavyweight 175-pounds, and over the ten round distance.
As previously reported, Chavez indicated that he spoke with the Municipal President of Culiacán, Jesús Estrada Ferreiro, who agreed to lend him the Revolution Park to stage the event and only 550 fans will be allowed to enter, with full sanitary restrictions for COVID-19.
In addition, he expressed that it will be special to fight in the Revolution Park, the place where he had his first fight as a professional 17 years ago.
"I hope it is a good fight, that it is clean, without head clashes, without cheating, that it is to the liking of the fans. I will give my best in the ring," said Chávez Jr.
"For this type of fight it is fine (at 175 pounds), but for important fights like against Daniel Jacobs or that type, I would like it to be at 168 (pounds)."
Chávez Jr. admitted that he would like to face Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramírez at some point.
"We have already traded gloves (in sparring), Ramirez is a good boxer, he is very tall, difficult, but if I would like to have a fight against him, it would be something very interesting," Chavez Jr. said.

Re: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Jeyson Minda - November 27, 2020
The event is scheduled to start at 8PM at the "Juan S. Millán" Sports Center in the Revolución Par in Culiacan, which will be open with limited access to 450 people, including fans, members of the Boxing and Wrestling Commission of Culiacán, doctors and the press.
All the fights this Friday will be broadcast through SalaEstelar.com, on pay-per-view.
At the official weigh-in ceremony that took place in a restaurant in the capital of Sinaloa, both Chávez and Minda came in at 174.8-pounds.
The 27-year-old Minda, originally from Quito, Ecuador, has a record of 14 victories (eight of them via knockout), one draw and two losses.
In his most recent fight in Mérida, Minda lost by knockout to Tyrone Spong last December.
For his part, Chávez, 34, has a record of 51 won including 33 knockouts, in exchange for five losses and a draw.
Chavez is trying to snap a two-fight losing streak, with defeats coming at the hands of Mario Cazares and Daniel Jacobs.
"Chavez is always a media type, we are two gentlemen who are looking for the same thing, he wants to vindicate himself here with his people, with his family, with his last name, but it will not be easy for him," Minda said.
"It is a great opportunity that is being given to us, I think that by winning this fight, good things are coming for me, for my family, for my country more than anything else, which is going through a difficult situation, but I want to bring joy to my country too.
"I believe that Chávez is going to try to knock me out from the first round, but with my team we have already planned an attack strategy and whatever he is going to do, we are going to do better."

Unless that guy is a real sh*tty fighter. They probably ain't doing Chavez Jr. no favors by getting him a short notice opponent. He don't do good when he has months to prepare for a guy
Re: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Jeyson Minda - November 27, 2020
Well he lost to Tyrone Spong last time out so he definitely can’t be particularly good...
