Disposable Email Address - Warning !!!!!!!

The forum is getting hammered by bots registering with disposable addresses. I have had to enable the counter system so If you are using a disposable email you are in danger of being automatically deleted if a bot tries to register with the same domain name.
If your email in the system is disposable please change it now.

It's a temporary email address that expires after a few mins or hours. The bots are using them to register, then they lay low, then they spam the forum. Looks like they are getting a lot more sophisticated and are using many diff disposable providers to get the temporary email to register with. The anti-spam looks up new account email domain, if it is temporary / disposable it deletes all accounts registered with that domain.

Chaps, just be mindful if you do use temp emails. Nefarious operators can potentially harvest passwords, gain access to your accounts, etc if you are not careful in how you use them. The link above that Ricky has posted is an Eastern European based site. That doesn't mean it is dodgy but always ask yourself what their motives are for providing a free service.

Ok.....this never used to happen when what is currently referred to as the "internet" was a simple cork "post it" board outside your local market. I can not recall even on one occasion...where a yellow sticky note represented an existential threat to the local participants. However....I suppose this is the price of progress.

On a more serious note...is there anything that one can do (beyond the current suggestion of simply NOT utilizing such a nonsensical email addresss) to be of help?

Hmm...the only thing I can think of that is comparable to this "temporary address" sort of thing, might be the local Juvenile Rehab centers of the past. For the most part...they were "temporary addresses" for those involved.

Temporary addresses are by definition temporary so if you can't access the email address you registered with change it to one you can.
