Yeah, an injury set up by all those rounds of jabs.

Just saying ;)I'm going for Joyce sometime after the 7th after slowing Dubois with a left hook early on, from which he never quite recovers

Re: Round-by-Round: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 28 November 2020
Wow, fair play to Joyce, all he had tonight was a jab andna chin and its fitting that it was literally a jab that KO'd Dubois, Joyce's jab was terrific tbf, not as quick as Dubois but more accurate and damaging, i was wondering if Joyce was carrying an injury because all night i was waiting on him dropping the right hand but he just kept plugging away with the jab
Dubois eye was fcvked but there will be the inevitable questions about his heart and accusations of quitting, i had him a round up going into the 10th, he landed all the eye catching shots, big punches but Joyce is Oliver McCall incarcerated, was losing rounds but was clawing his way back into things until the ending came out of nowhere, cracking fight made up for the horrendous undercard

I had Joyce up by 3 at the time of the stoppage. Dubois never stoped Joyce from dominating the contest with his jab. Credit to Joyce for taking advantage of the inexperienced Dubois once he saw DDD’s eye was closed. Constantly moved to the peripheral of that eye in the middle rounds and blasted it with jabs and rights.
Re: Round-by-Round: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 28 November 2020
That result is a disappointment for British boxing whatever way you look at it. I'm glad the fight was way more competitive than most thought it would be but for the sake of the future I think most of us would rather the younger guy with all those years in front of him at top level had won. DD appeared to quit because his swelling eye closed completely which to the hard core boxing fan does not show the never say die attitude that most of us expect from true champions.

Never write off the juggernaut.
Far too many people got themselves moist on the power of Dubois, but it was against weak opposition and frankly his record is very poor. Yet another lesson to never get to hung up on power punchers.
He can come again, but his lack of head movement and then quitting, Not good.
Joyce basically beat him with one hand, he only landed about 5 right hands.

Still it was Dub, who quit. He had such eye because of eating jabs.gregregegg wrote: ↑28 Nov 2020, 19:36To be fair only had one eye. Smart thing to do. Was gunna get beat up for about her round and it would of got stopped by the DR.

Dubois can come again - he was pretty good there.
Well played JJJ.

Never would I have thought that Joyce would win on his jab alone. (and his chin). He battered Dubs' eye all night long. I'd pay for the rematch. I reacted and called Dubs a quitter, but I'll recant and wait for the doc's report. Good fun fight.handsofstone wrote: ↑28 Nov 2020, 19:37 Wow, fair play to Joyce, all he had tonight was a jab andna chin and its fitting that it was literally a jab that KO'd Dubois, Joyce's jab was terrific tbf, not as quick as Dubois but more accurate and damaging, i was wondering if Joyce was carrying an injury because all night i was waiting on him dropping the right hand but he just kept plugging away with the jab

Same chin as the Atomic Bull is a real compliment.handsofstone wrote: ↑28 Nov 2020, 19:37 Wow, fair play to Joyce, all he had tonight was a jab andna chin and its fitting that it was literally a jab that KO'd Dubois, Joyce's jab was terrific tbf, not as quick as Dubois but more accurate and damaging, i was wondering if Joyce was carrying an injury because all night i was waiting on him dropping the right hand but he just kept plugging away with the jab

Tell his account that. If he wasn't on his heels he wouldn't have risked his golden goose.

Well said Frampton. Dubois quit.

All KO's and TKO's can be described as an injury can't they?

JJ won the fight with literally a jab and having a top chin. Don’t think he threw many power punches at all..

Watched it on a Spanish stream. Always funny. Dubois looked uncomfortable in his corner from around round 3 and I think he realised that he couldn't smash through Joyce easily. I think he wanted out b4 the eye injury

Re: Round-by-Round: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 28 November 2020
Lets hope there is no immediate rematch - give Joyce a shot at the title and give Dubois a couple of build back up fights and then who knows perhaps a fight for a "title" (I am thinking Manuel Charr BTW - is he still WBA regular champion?).
Always wanted to see AJ vs Joyce since their amateur days - yes Joyce is slow and one demensional and I'll say it again - slow. But I actually think his style could give him problems. I'm not convinced by Joshua's stamina and Joyce has the power to hurt him. I think he can take his shots also.
