Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 28 November 2020
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 28 November 2020
To all of the "slow Joe" naysayers , he put on a boxing clinic .

Slow Train Coming
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 28 November 2020
Joyce handspeed still isn't stellar. But his chin was great enough to take Dub's best shots, his jab was hard enough to bust Dub's eye, he was able to remain composed and box.
Credit to slow Joe, who put his advantages over this disadvantage!

joe was more accurate, but clearly still slow as sh!t, doesn't mean he's not a nightmare to fight , as dan's eye found outrd350lc wrote: ↑28 Nov 2020, 19:55margaret thatcher wrote: ↑28 Nov 2020, 19:53true, put on a clinic and is still slow as f@ck , it's actually a bit inspiring![]()
what does that make Dubois then , who was beaten to the punch most of the fight ?
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 28 November 2020
He beat Dubois to the jab all night long , was it the extra reach or the slower handspeed ?
Nobody on here saw him beating him to the jab .

Seems to be the uncanny Foreman-like timing and accuracy. It's part of the joy of boxing that these guys make things work that shouldn't

Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 28 November 2020
It sounded as though Bowers was really worried about Dubois’ appetite for the fight from very early on. Until we know the extent of the eye injury it’s probably best not to pass judgement on the ending but certainly there were signs tonight that don’t bode well for Dubois future in the game at a high level.
Fair play to Joyce he did exactly what he said he would but for me tonight was more about Dubois’ shortcomings than Joe’s strengths. I don’t think winning tonight against a (with the benefit of hindsight) very flawed opponent means Joe has a chance against the elite guys in the division.

So we both made a bit of money tonight and maybe all the idiots who pick a fighter because he's a meathead who looks great knocking out Japanese heavyweights over a bloke with the amazing amateur career and solid contender wins in the pros can piss off back to Twitter where they belong.
Nice one, Big Joe. Finally earned a bit of the respect he deserves!

How could anyone have had Dubois ahead by 8 rounds ?

Can definitely see a case for that.
Surely even you agree 8 points difference is stupidity in spades tho?
Funnily enough even if Dubois was 5 points up I reckon Joyce would be comfortable with that in the end. He’d have won round 10 at least 10-8 and would be confident of more knockdowns before the end of the fight,

DD 5-4 on my card, but I could see 6-3.

I was proven wrong by Joyce. Joyce may not have the technique or speed but showed he is a much smarter fighter than DDD, who lacked the instincts & drive.
DDD looked like rudolf from round 1 & had no answer for that Joyce jab & pulled a No Mas

yea i think it was very close a lot of rds i was trying not to score draw rds but i found a lot of rds either way close i just leaned to wards dd because he was throwing and landing the heavier shots, i did think he was winningjameswilson wrote: ↑28 Nov 2020, 20:46Can definitely see a case for that.

Agreed. It was tough to score. Lotsa jabs vs several power punches. Had dubs up by a point.brilo33 wrote: ↑28 Nov 2020, 20:53yea i think it was very close a lot of rds i was trying not to score draw rds but i found a lot of rds either way close i just leaned to wards dd because he was throwing and landing the heavier shots, i did think he was winningjameswilson wrote: ↑28 Nov 2020, 20:46Can definitely see a case for that.

it was one of those fights jj got his jab landing but dd is also landing meaty shots , hate to be cliche but comes down to what you like bestoogiebe wrote: ↑28 Nov 2020, 20:56Agreed. Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 28 November 2020
Definitely. A bit disappointed though. Would've liked a more definitive ending. Granted Joyce caused the eye damage, but if it is nerve damage like what's been going around, you can't blame the lad. Geez, he was up on the cards. (a bit too wide though).brilo33 wrote: ↑28 Nov 2020, 21:00it was one of those fights jj got his jab landing but dd is also landing meaty shots , hate to be cliche but comes down to what you like best
