Neither win a second of any round v Fury or Usyk
Talk about slow motion.
Wow.
Wow.
Re: Neither win a second of any round v Fury or Usyk
Usyk can lose early rounds, as he often does it.
The Gypsy King will dominate them.

Re: Neither win a second of any round v Fury or Usyk
No harm in that tho.
Joyce is gonna earn some big pay days. Rawling himself after the fight said Dubois went back to the corner shaking because one hadn’t felt power like that before.
Can I just ask was there a moment Joyce looked even remotely like he was slightly stunned? He might wiggle a bit but he really didn’t look hurt at all to me, and this was taking some flush shots from a guy who’s been ironing people clean out.

That's why I don't write Joyce off against Fury. They're both big and strong, neither has big power, they both have top chins, and we've never seen anyone make Fury work as hard as Joyce can.
It very much remains to be seen if Joyce can win rounds against Fury, but for me he offers a great challenge despite that. Fury can intimidate AJ into not throwing for long sections, but what happens when Joyce keeps coming...

Can't see Joce beating any of the top guys UNTIL , someone tells hime its actually alright to use two hands . If he had used his right hand more it would of finished earlier , DD was'nt hurting him , at all ,, so when you take someones best and they don't hurt , give em a couple of yours see how they like it ,, and DD did'nt even like the jab ,, too protected and brought along too soon .

Re: Neither win a second of any round v Fury or Usyk
Joyce only committing as much as necessary was a big part of why it was relatively comfortable for him.
Re: Neither win a second of any round v Fury or Usyk
People (including the judges) miss what Joyce is doing. In some ways you'd only really know how good he is if you were in there with him. That jab will seem relentless to the opponent, like you are constantly poked in the face by a telegraph pole. Not nice. Very demoralising and damaging. I actually think Fury v Joyce would be a good fight. Fury would have to work really hard which would let us see the best of him.

Joyce has good stamina and an excellent chin (now we know for sure...) he fights 'big' as well and like Jim has said above, it wouldn't take more than a few rounds for that big booming jab coming in at a constant basis to demoralise anyone.
I think it is a bit early for him to be taking on Fury - probably a few good fights with Whyte/Chisora/Povetkin - maybe Yoka for the European.

Re: Neither win a second of any round v Fury or Usyk
Fury would pulverize either.
Wilder would KO either.
Joshua.. not so sure. Probably wins wide decisions. Can’t see him stopping Joyce.
Usyk? A bit more complicated. Here’s the smaller man but with so much more skill. Struggled mightily against Chisora, so I think Joyce the big man is a hard fight for him. JJ wins a few rounds at least in my opinion.
After tonight DDD will avoid Usyk at all costs. Not going to be difficult since he now offers no value to Usyk who is on a path for the title. If he did fight Usyk it would be a strategic beat down by Usyk. Dubois is nowhere ready for a fighter of that level of skill yet.
Edit: Assumed OP wasn’t talking about Mike Tyson or RJJ who would easily handle Fury and Usyk

Joyce sparred Fury when Fury was obese and still said it was the hardest spar and best learning spar he’d ever had. He’s not going to out jab Tyson.
Re: Neither win a second of any round v Fury or Usyk
Exactly, him not over committing and leaving himself open were perfect tactics .Grilling Machine wrote: ↑29 Nov 2020, 00:41 Joyce only committing as much as necessary was a big part of why it was relatively comfortable for him.
He just beat a heavy favourite comfortably and people are still not happy .

Agree it’s too early for Joyce to be taking on Fury, but he really needs to get a move on with his career now, the guy’s 35 already.Fray Bentos wrote: ↑29 Nov 2020, 03:00 Joyce has good stamina and an excellent chin (now we know for sure...) he fights 'big' as well and like Jim has said above, it wouldn't take more than a few rounds for that big booming jab coming in at a constant basis to demoralise anyone.

If any big fights come JJ has to take them, it's now or never, he doesn't need warm up fights.

Does Joyce have anything to fear from the Usyk who fought Del Boy ?

You've never said that sparring doesn't mean much? Whenever Mayweather said he'd beat so-and-so, you agreed that he didn't need to accept that challenge?mickey1975 wrote: ↑29 Nov 2020, 12:00Joyce sparred Fury when Fury was obese and still said it was the hardest spar and best learning spar he’d ever had. We hear this a lot from Fury fans, but if it's true he'd handle all these contenders with ease then why isn't he fighting them, instead of his stay-busy Tockers.
I think so. I'd pick Joyce to beat Chisora, but Del knew he couldn't outbox Usyk so trained to steamroll him, whereas Joyce is a completely different, mellower character who'd box to Usyk's amateur strengths.Black Sam Bellamy wrote: ↑29 Nov 2020, 15:07Does Joyce have anything to fear from the Usyk who fought Del Boy ?
I think AJ's still the best right now, but although he has the tools to bash Fury I don't think he has the confidence. I actually think Joyce might be the tougher fight for Fury, even though I think Joe'd do well to beat several others. He matches up well to Fury physically, and crucially wouldn't be intimidated by him. Wilder was shook in the first fight and a mental shell in the rematch, and Wlad was thrown off by someone he couldn't outspoil (and then denied the opportunity to go again with a bit more fire in him).
I think if you put someone who isn't scared of Fury in there you'll get a fight, and if they're decent they can win some rounds. I'd say Ruiz, Parker and Joyce all qualify, and if Fury wants to be considered an all-timer he needs names of their calibre on his record. Because if Fury gets in AJ's head he'll beat him and retire, having scraped past a reluctant Wlad and beaten a massive puncher with just Ortiz on his record, who was only rated so highly for his performances in those two fights.
The sad truth is that no-one at heavyweight has a strong winning record at present. Individually they're pieces of the jigsaw.

The worrying thing for Fury’s opponents is he doesn’t try to get in their head. He’s just being himself.

Re: Neither win a second of any round v Fury or Usyk
Regardless of how or why, we agree he gets in a lot of people's heads. That's why I'm interested to see him against high-level heavies without undue fear of him. I think AJ's acquired it as his career's progressed and the pressure's mounted up. Like I don't think he's really given to fearfulness, but he cares so much about his own hype and legacy that he stiffens up from trying to do too much. We'll see what happens against Pulev, but the evidence from the Ruiz rematch is that he's too anxious to flow as well as he used to (and still could).
If AJ fought Fury and lost narrowly on points I'd probably back him to win the rematch. Purely based on the confidence boost. I think Fury has enough ringcraft to beat Joyce on points, but see it as a really hard night for him and I'd like to see him tested. Wallin did okay until he got tired and went into survival mode, and I put most of that down to the lack of pressure on him as a huge underdog. Joyce would also be a big underdog, but with a lot more to offer.

Re: Neither win a second of any round v Fury or Usyk
Usyk in particular (as that's who Joe is being lined up against)is a terrible matchup for Joe stylistically.
I think he'd have a decent shot against the likes of Whyte and co, the more cumbersome heavyweights that dont move very well.
Fury would fit into the same category as Usyk. Too much mobility for Joyce.

Re: Neither win a second of any round v Fury or Usyk
I see Joyce moving forward a lot in both fights, but Usyk finding it easier to avoid him on account of size. Fury has much longer limbs than his opponents, but his movement's not on Usyk's level, and Joyce'd really make him work to hold his positional advantage.
I reckon Fury and Usyk are both tough matchups for Joyce, but that Usyk's too small for Fury. I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility that Joyce beats Fury and Usyk beats Joyce. Doubt you'd find many betting on it!

It was very worrying how DDD just kept walking into that jab. I know JJ has good reach, but that jab was not particularly quick and he seldom doubled it.Jimmy2020 wrote: ↑29 Nov 2020, 02:46 People (including the judges) miss what Joyce is doing. I was very surprised that DDD did not even attempt to slip, parry and counter it. He didn't even try to jab with him.
I am even more surprised that JJ won that fight with so little use of his backhand
Re: Neither win a second of any round v Fury or Usyk
I don't remember him saying that. I remember him saying he still had the movement and was very hard to hit even with all the weight, but Joyce is a nice lad. He's hardly going to go into the ring with The Champ when he was at his lowest, try and take his head off and then say "yeah he was easy work" is he?mickey1975 wrote: ↑29 Nov 2020, 12:00 Joyce sparred Fury when Fury was obese and still said it was the hardest spar and best learning spar he’d ever had. Fury also brought him in as a sparring partner for Wilder 1 or 2 (can't remember which)so he must think something of him, and there's a photo of them together during the sparring sessions and Fury's face is pretty marked up. There was also a rumour of somebody being knocked out during those sparring sessions, which was laughed off by both fighters. I wouldn't take anything from sparring stories. Didn't Dubois knock out AJ?

Re: Neither win a second of any round v Fury or Usyk
agree, i'd pick joyce over del, but think stylistically joe may be easier for usyk as he applies his pressure in a slow and methodical way that will give usyk more time to move and find space than del's charges did. and i thought usyk beat del clearly enough anyway, don't agree with the ppl who say it was a struggleGrilling Machine wrote: ↑29 Nov 2020, 17:51You've never said that sparring doesn't mean much?
