It was godawful to watch. Fair play to arias though. He didn’t lie down.
He had a bad one against Jason Barnett on a big undercard as well. Barnett was basically a circuit boxer and Audley carried him until almost the last round then folded him over with the first left hand he threw. A round before the fight I remember the commentator saying ‘he’s infuriating isn’t he!’
I was there for Tyson Fury’s second comeback fight against Pianeta right before Frampton vs Jackson at Windsor Park. Not only was it gash but the sky opened too.
More fool me for getting floor seats at an outdoor event in Belfast...

Lovely to see a mention of George Arias here - he always seemed happy to face anyone around the world at cruiser or heavy. I saw his points loss to Hughie Fury in 2015 from ringside, by which time George was 41. He was seconded by his wife and daughter, who broke into excitable shouting in Portuguese every time George threw a punch in Fury's vague direction. Mercifully, that made the fight seem more exciting than it actually was. They said nothing to him between rounds, simply because George knew exactly what he was doing. As for the Audley fight, surely anyone who watched it only has themselves to blame - the Nelson v Arias fight from seven years earlier was a fair clue to what might happen...

Yeah that’s my recollection of him. He seemed like he was actually having fun. I remember hi. Laughing at the weigh in etc.
Pretty interesting hearing about his family running his corner. Guess it makes sense as the opponent as it saves money and they get a nice holiday!
Unfortunately I had the misfortune to watch it live as I went to the Khan fight smelling an upset but didn’t think he’d get banjoed in a round. Well, less than a minute. A lot of his fans seemed a bit shell shocked. I mean their faces and body language it was like when you see people who’ve just been told a family member died. Just complete shock, lots of shaking heads etc.

I was there live for the rematch of that and Christ it was boring (wasn't it on the undercard of the Froch Kessler rematch?) Another one of those where everybody just stopped watching and nobody had any idea what the score was nor were they interested.
