Prime George Foreman vs Lennox Lewis

Post by mayorcurley »

This would be AWESOME IMHO......

Prime George coming off victories of Frazier and Norton vs Prime Lennox

I don't know but interested to hear other opinions.

Foreman had power, Lewis was smarter, bigger, faster, more technical and had power too. Lewis would outbox Foreman.

Lewis by knockout-around 8 or 9 rounds.

A switched-on Lewis on points.
And I reckon he'd have been very alert to the danger Foreman represented.

This is a pickem fight but one scenario could be Foreman, with the better chin, winning a trade with Lennox for a KO.

Foreman was not only powerful but he was game. See Foreman vs Lyle.

Up through 6 rounds or so, it's anybody's fight, and a KO could happen either way.

If Lennox is able to get him past the 6th or 7th. He probably takes over, and stops him.

A Foreman KO in the early going is a very, very real possibility though.

Lewis that comes in probably prepared and well aware if the ko power foreman brings would bring a comfortable Ud for me or maybe even late stoppage around 10, obviously foreman had serious power and could have stopped Lewis but think he would have tied him up and jabbed his head off

The pawing jab Lewis (which was often the case)is not going to keep Foreman at baby. If he snapped it consistently, he would do better. However, Foreman was so tenacious and had so much power that it's likely that he would have got through and stopped Lewis. Foreman was better technically that some people think and had a lot heart. Foreman wins this more often than not.

In this very interesting fight, I'll pick Lewis by Unanimous Decision. I'm thinking Lewis the boxer shows up for this dangerous fight. I sure wouldn't bet my house on it, though.

Lewis is quicker but not Ali quick which I think is important. He's longer which should help keep George off him, but George was excellent at cutting off the ring and did deal with quicker guys during his prime though no one quite as big. Lewis doesn't have a great chin, Foreman just needs to land once and it game over. Honestly the 90s were great to watch and definitely the last great era of heavyweights but if old man Foreman and old man Holmes could compete so well against the guys whom Lewis did in his prime then I don't see why a younger faster, fitter version of Foreman doesn't walk through the same guys. I don't think George has the kind of power that leaves late in a fight either. There's no way that Lewis could tire foreman the same way Ali did or frustrate him the same way Young did. Foreman catches him sooner or later and that all she wrote.
