Orbital or Jaw

Been watching ,,, reading ,, and listening , to many fans and pundits alike ,, and what seems to me is , we have come to expect tooo much ,,, in fact waaaay tooooo much from our sportsman ,, start with there only human ,, wether it was the jaw or the orbital that was broke , i don't know ,

firstly the jaw ,, well don't know what pain you would be in but i would consider it immense ,, like ali said if he knew it was his jaw he would of quit , these guys can take more pain than the average Joe and punches are just part of the job so to get a broken jaw and carry on is brave and tough , .

Orbital , i know how that hurt i've done it ,,, mine was'nt in the ring from continous hits , it was in a accident and one big hit , the eye swelled up , withinn seconds , much much more than DD;S did the swelling covered the eye it was instantaniously black and i could'nt see ,, funny enough there was no pain in it not physical pain ,, but mentally it was different , i had to wait , can't remember excatly but think it was around 7-8 days , BEFORE they knew if the eye and sight was damaged , the eye was covered in swelling , and i can tell you NO WAY WOULD I FIGHT OR CARRY ON FIGHTING WITH AN EYE LIKE THAT .

Thats why you have corner men and doctors there , and the fact that he pulled himself out , shows neither done there job , there were 3 people at fault here ,

1--- The head corner man for not stopping it , or at least calling the doctor .
2 ,, The ref for same reasons has above .
3 The doctor , for not getting on the apron and , looking at it ,, and he has every right too .

The only one with a brain , was the young man himself , who relized he had a serious injury that could cost him his sight , so he quit , and GOOD ON HIM , he was let down by the ones he trusted , If he comes back which he probably will , bet he gets a different team around him .

Now Frampton , and that pratt Haye , they were quick to accuse him off quitting , well its easy to say that , but lets see how Frampton does if it happenns to him , and Haye , well heres a guy who blamed his big toe on failure to produce never mind an eye like that ,, Then you have Nelson , well he quit in most fights , , he had , just did'nt say NO MAS and walk out ,, he said NO MAS throughout the whole fights and run and held , refused to engage , and become one of the most boring champs i've ever seen ,, so these guys should keep there mouths shut ,,, but i suspect by pulling DD down there really just trying to say , see how tough i am i would'nt of done it ,,, but it was'nt there sight on the line it was'nt there eye .

Now regards pur DD , i don't want to jump on a bandwagon , but i'll tell you i have never felt he's elite world level . i've always felt he's been pushed to soon at its to early for him ,, personaly i feel he's just another british heavyweight , been spoon fed and brought along then threw in for a big chance it fight , his problem is he has a promoter who is desperate and impatiant to become num 1 promoter again and was backing DD to help him do it ,,

Regards JJ , well i think he done well , but he beat an inexperienced novice , who was slow , either did'nt know or was unable to slip punches and fire back with two hands , and still would'nt go for the kill DD was there for the taking from rnd 7 , but some may say JJ shown experience , and patience , i say hhe shown fear of getting tagged and refused too open up with two hands on a guy with one eye ,,

He will not get away with that against the elite JJ shown he has a good jab and it won him the fight , but that jab will fall way short against someone who knows how to slip and counter with two hands ,

Was it a good fight hell yes , because they were fairly evenly matched , but it did show that DD has been rushed , which i suspect is more for the promoters impatiance to get on top ,, and JJ has left his run too late he's just too slow .

They gave us a good fight but for heavens sake DD should not cop flak for doing what the trainer , ref and doctor should off done and thats look after his own health

Too many fans expect these gladiators to die or get seriously injured for there benefit , DD DONE THE RIGHT THING

Good post. Haye is a clown for sure. Getting his toe out will never be forgotten. Frampton shamelessly avoided Rigondeaux. Nelson was pathetic in terms of heart and will to win. Not knocking what they achieved but they aren't exactly Arturo Gatti in the heart department.

Whats harder to fight through broken? Dubois, Brook bailed out with broken orbitals, Margarito and Inoue went the distance

Ali, Abraham and Burns lasted with busted jaws, Ortiz and Dickens couldn't continue

Im wary of using the word quit because it suggests the fighters shat the bed but i suppose its irrelevant what we call it, its strange whenever a fighter lasts the course with a broken facial bone they rightly get major kudos yet when they quit they are slandered, if bailing with a broken jaw/eye is that bad then surely going the distance isnt that big a deal or vice versa??

Every injury carries a different level of pain and everybody has different pain thresholds. It's impossible to distinguish between the two simply because they are both termed as 'broken'. Adrenaline plays a big part as does the way one's body reacts.

Around 5am one morning a mate stuck his car in a ditch, wrote it off, came out visibly unscathed, hitched a lift, went to work and put in a full shift. No fractures but badly sprained joints. He was fine til around 6pm when the pain started to set in. 3 days later he was still in bed.

Neither orbital, nor jaw injuries are as bad as thpinal ones.
