I met Glenn at one of Kell Brook’s fights a few years back. Perhaps not surprisingly it was near the bar. One of my pals came over, who is more of a casual fan but knew Glenn mainly from him covering Sky shows and said how much of a fan of his he was and that he’d watched all of his fights. No idea why he said it because it wasn’t true at all.

Glenn asked him which was his favourite and my mate said ‘The Lennox Lewis fight’. :brick:

Glenn never made any money in boxing and prob has been short of work since SKY shat on him.

He has done a bit of commentary for BKB, he prob needs a few quid so good luck to him, nice guy.

He does deserve a few quid out of boxing and had an up down ripped off career.
He can however be a bit of nob especially after a couple of single malts. Other times though a perfect gent.
I would like to think however that he wouldn't want to taint his legacy and love for the sport by participating in this sideshow bollocks.
He'll go down in my estimation if he does it
So will holyfield

He’s had a few quid. He had a dream job for years. Sky got rid because he chinned someone who tried stopping him drink driving.

So McCrory kicked Tysons arse?.....Gosh, that would have made a fight between McCrory and Lewis a very attractive even fight, if they had fought.

Oh......wait a minute

They did, and it was'nt. McCrory had his arse handed to him on a plate by LL.

Ruthless-RKO wrote: 01 Dec 2020, 10:21 it's on Evander Holyfield vs Glenn McCrory: Boxing legends agree huge comeback fight at O2 in April and winner could face Mike Tyson

Boxing legends Glenn McCrory and Evander Holyfield have verbally agreed to a huge fight next year in the sport’s latest comeback story.

McCrory, the former cruiserweight champion, has told talkSPORT.com a fight with heavyweight icon Holyfield will ‘100% happen’, potentially at the O2 Arena next April.

The Brit, 56, has not fought for 27 years since his defeat to Alfred Cole in 1993, while American Holyfield, 58, last appeared in the ring nine years ago, beating Brian Nielsen in 2011.

Their comeback fight will be promoted by the Bare Knuckle Boxing company, although it will play out with gloves, and YouTube boxers Jake Paul and Joe Weller are being lined up for the undercard.

“I spoke to Holyfield on the phone the other night and he said he’ll fight me,” McCrory told talkSPORT.com.

“He’s been scared of me for 30 years, but now he’s finally going to fight me. He’s getting brave.

“We’re looking at April, I’m talking to Joe Brown and Jim Freeman from the BKB company and they want to put it on at the O2 in April.

“I was champion after Evander moved up to heavyweight, I took his vacant crown and I said to him the other night, ‘Why did you move up? Were you scared of me?’

“It’s 30 years in the making. I was the heir to his cruiserweight throne and he was the fight I always wanted, he was the best and he moved away.

“I’ve always been in good shape, I climbed the eighth-highest mountain in the world last year, so if I can do that with no training, I can certainly fight Evander Holyfield – it’s what I do!”

It follows the entertaining exhibition bout between ex-heavyweight kings Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr last Saturday – and the winner of McCrory vs Holyfield could face Iron Mike next.

Both men have history with Tyson: Holyfield beat him twice and infamously lost a chunk of his ear, while McCrory was Iron Mike’s sparring partner, going 96 rounds with him during his peak.

Holyfield has made his desire for a third fight with Tyson abundantly clear – and McCrory wants him too.

“When I beat Evander, then Tyson’s next,” he added. “I was there with Tyson in the days, I was there in his prime and I kicked his ass.

“Back then, he was getting all the money and the fame and I got nothing, so it’s payback!”
What a load of b*llocks.

I'm sure Glenn is a nice fella but come on, Holyfield is scared of him and he used to kick Tysons butt ! There's trying to sell a fight but bless him, no one in the world believes this except him. It needs to be a bit believable if you are going to make statements like this. Thats on a par with some conference league footballer claiming he's better than Ronaldo. Even if the fight did go ahead I doubt it would be PPV and even if it was, who would be interested? I'm a huge Tyson fan but I wasn't paying to see him and he was fighting RJJ

In terms of opponents, John Westgarth stopped him in 4 and was from Newcastle. Presumably there might be more pros in the North East who would have handled him at heavyweight.

Anyway, Holyfield will probably just go direct to play fighting Tyson next. Glenn will have to make do with having a charity spar with Rhino from Gladiators or something! 🤪
