Steven Ward will take on strongman Hafthor Bjornsson in an exhibition bout in Iceland on January 16.

The two men will collide in Reykjavik next month, as Bjornsson continues to train ahead of his showdown with fellow strongman Eddie Hall.

That fight with Hall is being dubbed as ‘The Heaviest Boxing Match of All Time’ and sees MTK Global working with CoreSports to serve as the official boxing advisors for the clash.

Before Bjornsson turns his attention to the fight with Hall in September 2021, the man known as ‘The Mountain’ will first meet Ward in the exhibition bout.

Ward is a former WBO European light-heavyweight champion, and was involved in a Fight of the Year contender in 2019, when he defeated Liam Conroy in an incredible battle at the Ulster Hall in Belfast.

The Belfast fighter was last in action in September, when he successfully won his cruiserweight debut with a six round points victory over Jone Volau.

Sorry about that. It's a sport I follow very closely, so kinda assumed it was common knowledge. My bad.

I think Eddie Hall could be half decent. His fitness is very good for such a big bloke and his lactic threshold is incredible. If he's got a chin, his size and power could see him do well.

He's done some boxing---had a charity match vs a guy I'd never seen before and lost a decision over 3 or 4 rounds. His fitness is defo better than Thor's and unlike thor he reacted okay to shots, so better than thor i'd say. but very slow and clearly not much going on in terms of boxing ability, plus no sign that he's a big puncher. he did manage to send the guy flying a couple times with pushes though, maybe sumo is up his alley

No worries mate, it isn't the first time it has happened. Team Fury posted about sparring the world's strongest man Eddie Hall several months before his victory was officially aired in the UK.

I personally believe all high level strongmen could be a handful in the ring due to there sheer explosive power (particularly against someone quite chinny, like Ward).

But their cardio levels are generally poor compared to pro boxers. If a decent level fighter can avoid getting caught for a round or two, they will generally end up making the strongman look foolish once he starts to gas and slow down.

Well Hall and Thor are elite strongmen and could hardly do anything vs much smaller random non-pros...

I honestly think Eddie Hall would actually gas less quick than David Price does. He's got a CrossFit world record and there's a YouTube video of him almost passing a navy seals fitness test. He recovers incredibly quick for a big guy. His fitness isnt natural though, much like Jarrell Miller's fitness isn't natural.

Yes I think Strong Man is drugged tested about as diligently as the average Mr Olympia competition. It would be interesting to know how many athletes/boxers are on prescribed testosterone replacement therapies now, having effectively fried their natural systems doing too many drugs?

This guy was in the final of World's Strongest Man 2008 and was fighting as a pro in 2009. He only had 3 fights though.
