Re: What division would Marciano fight in today?
He trained himself down to 190, not bulked himself up. I reckon LHW
Re: What division would Marciano fight in today?
He won the title at 184. All his title defenses were under 190. He would make 175 easy today and 168 is also very likely.
Re: What division would Marciano fight in today?
168 is highly unlikely..c'mon people..

Re: What division would Marciano fight in today?
For perspective, when career lhws Joe Smith and Sullivan Barrera had their lhw fight, Smith was 190 and Barrera 187 on fight night
Re: What division would Marciano fight in today?
Cruiserweight 190lbs. No way he could get to 175 let alone 168

Re: What division would Marciano fight in today?
He weighed as low as 178lbs and as heavy as 192.5lbs but whipped himself into great condition. Unlike a lot of HWs he didn’t carry excess flab or pump himself up like a bodybuilder.

Re: What division would Marciano fight in today?
if you look at actual cruisers, they are more around 210 fight night, and overall bigger men than rock....taller, broader, heavier
most light heavys are hovering around the 180s-190s on fight night
clearly more a lhw rock was

Re: What division would Marciano fight in today?
I'm not sure what his walking around weight was but he looked pretty solid for his fights. I somehow doubt he would have been bulking up to fight at HWmargaret thatcher wrote: ↑04 Dec 2020, 22:07Why not 175? Guys make 175 weighing more on fight night than he did winning the hw title
Re: What division would Marciano fight in today?
Something tells me, Marciano wanted be a HW and he'll become a HW even today. He would have had a built similar to the current version of Povetkin or Alen Babic, or some like that.

Heavyweight. Whatever it took. If he had to weigh in above 200 pounds, he would do it. No doubt in my mind.

Re: What division would Marciano fight in today?
Well, if we are talking about a Marciano who is bigger than he actually was, maybe he'd be 300 pounds
Re: What division would Marciano fight in today?
Even bigger than Jack Johnson.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑05 Dec 2020, 01:08 Well, if we are talking about a Marciano who is bigger than he actually was, maybe he'd be 300 pounds

Re: What division would Marciano fight in today?
Rocky usually weighed about 205 pounds between fights. He would have gone higher but kept himself in great shape always during his career. 205 was the highest he would let himself go to.bollocks wrote: ↑04 Dec 2020, 23:41I'm not sure what his walking around weight was but he looked pretty solid for his fights. Didn't stop him tickling Ali's ribs when Ali kept flicking his toupee, apparently

Anyone who thinks he could have got down to 168 or 175 is retarded.
It's the equivalent of saying 'Calzaghe made super middle, so he could have made middle or light middle!'
Amazing this has to be explained to people.

175lbs isn't beyond the realms of possibility, he weighed 178lb in one fight and was 184lb versus Joe Louis.

Re: What division would Marciano fight in today?
tell us why he couldnt , and why this is so amazing, when guys regularly make 175 fighting at heavier weight than rock did, for example joe smith making 175 regularly and then fighting at 190 pounds.
if cal could make 168 with same day weigh ins and without draining I'd have little doubt he could make a lower division

wow he was huge, i mean that's just way way way heavier than 175, it's almost as if lhws today fight heavier than that all the timeControversial wrote: ↑05 Dec 2020, 06:06175lbs isn't beyond the realms of possibility, he weighed 178lb in one fight and was 184lb versus Joe Louis.

Re: What division would Marciano fight in today?
Hell, look at Jaime Munguia gaining 21 pounds after making 154, Lemieux gaining like 19-20 at 160, etc.....rock wouldnt even have that big of a cut to make compared to a lot of guys
saying he couldnt get down to something like 175 is just straight stooopid and uninformed

i know bruh , i was being sarcastic
the people who think it's unfathomable that a guy who fought at rock's weight could make 175 today obviously don't know what they're talking about and maybe should follow the current scene better. guys who are already utterly ripped and have a weight limit to make + day before weigh in take off 20+ pounds their ring weight these days
a guy rock's size could do 175 no doubt

Re: What division would Marciano fight in today?
Christ... They got down to the weight first. How much they eat and drink and gain afterwards is irrelevant. They first got down to the weight.
Marciano never got down to 175, and weighed 178 one time while young and in his first 10 fights. Could Razor Ruddock when he was in his prime have gone back down to 184 because he weighed it one time early in his career?
Those of us who have actually read about Marciano and are informed about the man -- i.e. not you -- know how hard he trained to get himself in shape, and what he would put his body through in his lengthy camps. He was one of the fittest heavyweight champs ever, and to suggest at 184 he could lose more weight and get down to 175 is risible.
