Smith v Canelo
Smith v Canelo
So this is coming soon, obv a really tough fight for Smith but I think it's great to see one of our men testing himself against the best on the big stage.
It's why fighters fight, dare to dream!
I know Smith is #1 on boxrec but in reality I think it's a bit inflated on the back of beating an injured Groves and squeezing past John Ryder.

Re: Smith v Canelo
Smith probably had just a bad night against Ryder. He gotta be prepared well against Canelo. Anyway, this doesn't mean, that he won't be caught. Canelo won't be in a hurry though. He'll work methodicaly as usual. Smith can even take some rounds. But I see Smith knocked out in the 10th or so.

I think Canelo gave him his standard 4 weeks prep!DrDuke wrote: ↑05 Dec 2020, 11:13 Smith probably had just a bad night against Ryder. He gotta be prepared well against Canelo. Fair play for him taking the fight where others duck .
C'mon Callum lad , pull off a shock win .

I want smith to win bt cant see it,canelo between 4 and 6 imo
Re: Smith v Canelo
I understand Canelo being the favourite, but not sure why so many people assume Smith will get KOd.
It is not like Smith has looked overly vulnerable in the past. He has also shown he has plenty of pop himself.

Re: Smith v Canelo
Smith beat an injured Groves and was gifted a decision against Ryder in a fight he lost.
Then we have the unimpressive win against the Swede, a kickboxer who took him the distance and then Rocky from Stocky.
That aint no resume to take into a fight with Canelo. Look at Canelo's record
This fight ends first half through body shots. I give Smith literally no chance

Re: Smith v Canelo
Smith got his game plan wrong against Ryder and squeaked through by a whisker.
He found himself getting out worked and out fought on the inside by a shorter man with shorter arms who throws good combos.
Canelo has more in his locker than Ryder overall, there is no doubt about that.
But his style is different and it isn't all that uncommon for a fighter to struggle with a fringe contender but up his game when fighting a higher calibre of opponent.
Jacobs, for example, was relatively competitive for 12 against Canelo, despite being stopped by Poirog in the past and has also looked pedestrian vs guys like Suleki and Rosado.
Look at Badau Jack, gets stopped by Edwards and draws with Periban. But also beat Cleverly and Groves, was unlucky against Degale and Bute. Also lasted the full 12 vs Stevenson, at a time that he was seen as a bit of a beast.

Smith fights to his level and will do a lot better than many think, they have the Ryder fight fresh but he's shown he's better than that. Canelo will prob win but I'm excited for it....will be a silly looking height difference

Re: Smith v Canelo
Smith should get Ryder in as sparring if possible. Canelo is a cheating little git and I. Hope he gets stopped.Coco wrote: ↑05 Dec 2020, 11:09 So this is coming soon, obv a really tough fight for Smith but I think it's great to see one of our men testing himself against the best on the big stage.

Canelo looks to have a chin on par with Golovkin
Smith won't put a dent in him.

“Somebody had put a pump to him and blown him up” - Joe Gallagher commenting on the size of Canelo when he fought Liam.
