in my personal top three favourite fighters of all time. I suspect, he wont quit until he is carried out on a stretcher

His choice, but there must be an argument in favour of saving stupid people from themselves

I agree that i want to see Holyfield hang up his gloves, but i suppose its his choice. Its always sad to see a former champion go on. In Holyfields case its the misguided view that he can regain the title, even in this day of 4 average boxers holding the titles , Holyfield isn't going to beat one of them.

What i find even more sad is the fact that we have former champion like Juan Polo Perez a former champion at Super fly , still in the ring, and not only fighting but being matched with world standard Light Welters, last week he took on Randall Bailey and was Ko'd in a round.

This is the sad side of the sport.

Boxing is a sport driven by the market.

Stop watching, stop posting threads, stop buying tickets etc.

And nobody will show him.

If he's passed the tests, let him fight.

The fact he's a shadow of himself isn't just cause to stop him fighting.

There are worse heavyweights, their are older heavyweights and there are heavyweights in worse shape than Holyfield.

You can't punish him for being a legend ten years ago.

Have to agree with you here David.
Although Holyfield is a legand and is doing damage to his reputation, if he's fit and passed all the tests he should be allowed to continue boxing, even if no-one else wants him to.

Didn't his next opponent, Jeremy Bates, used to play Davis Cup tennis for Britain and once make the 4th round of Wimbledon?

Even Holy should prevail here....
