For 2 old guys it was an entertaining 'fight' The result was as expected a draw. I suppose if you are into this old man fight game its ok. You just cant take the fight too seriously and just watch a couple of legends have a spar for 8 rounds. This could take off in some fashion as im sure there is a promotor out there watching thinking 'I could make some cash out of this'

Of course, it was a draw in the making since the start on cards, but it was worthy of it. Nothing happened really.

It was a lot more edifying than those old timer fights back in 2000, where Holmes teed off on a Bonecrusher who had popped his arm, and flatted Weaver, who hadn't boxed in years. It was in the spirit of Jack Johnson and Joe Jeannette going at it in their 60s, with lots of moves and action but no bad intentions. Look that one up on YouTube if you haven't seen it, lots of fun.

This one.. Jake Paul said he’s taking it seriously. Yes he is yet to fight an actual boxer, but even with the fights he’s having, he’s taking it seriously and boxing well. If it’s something he wants to do and gonna put in the effort, then why not.

Jake Paul is helmet and for that he deserves grief but is he any worse than the thousands of journeymen we see every year who turn up fully intending to lose so they dont lose a payday in the following weeks?

Ive got massive respect for journeymen, the ones who come to win, the ones who intend to lose and are happy to use professional boxing as a wage can get in the bin as far as im concerned, boxing is tough old sport and owes no one a living, journeymen regularly adimit they wont try to win, isn't that match fixing??

Hard "fight " to score...Tyson was the aggressor but hardly landed....Roy did lot of holding, but it was one of those where the holding was good to watch...some great defence from Roy.

Both men I thought put on a decent effort....Tyson looked good shapewise but was blowing early and Roys higher iq boxing wise was evident

I felt he was targeting Roy's body in places he could land meaty shots without hurting him. He sold it well, but there were no uppercuts or hooks.

We're mostly agreed that Jones was a phenomenal athlete who boxed rather than a great boxer, and I thought he looked well out of shape at 210.

If you look at the punch stats Tyson massively dominated every round. It was an 8-0 Tyson win even though he was going easy on Roy.

Report | Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. sold 1.2 million PPVs

According to a report from Dan Rafael, the recent boxing pay-per-view event between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. sold 1.2 million PPVs.

Tyson and Jones met last Saturday in the main event of a high-profile boxing card that also featured a co-main event between Jake Paul and Nate Robinson. The 54-year-old Tyson and 51-year-old Jones Jr. entertained fans for old time’s sake in an eight-round draw, while Paul knocked out Robinson in the co-main event in a devastating fashion. Also on the card was Badou Jack, plus there were musical performances from the likes of Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa. Overall, it was a big home run of an event for Triller.

According to Rafael, the numbers for the Tyson vs. Jones Jr. PPV are strong. The scribe reports that the show sold up to 1.2 million buys, while also noting that it’s the biggest-selling boxing PPV card in quite some time. Compared to 1.2 million for Tyson vs. Jones Jr., Rafael also reports that the Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder fight sold 850,000 buys.







This is a massive home run for the promoter Triller as well as Tyson and Jones Jr., who reportedly took home paydays of $10 million and $3 million, respectively. It’s likely that since the PPV did better than expected that both fighters earned PPV points. In fact, Paul admitted that he also got bonus money after scoring that viral KO over Robinson.

The 1.2 million number also shows that boxing fans, and sports fans in general, are still willing to spend their hard-earned money on big fights. Even though both guys are older fighters, it was still a big-name fight on paper, and for the most part, the card delivered At $50 instead of $80, it was a much easier sell for fans, as well. Overall, a success.

Mike Tyson’s exhibition versus Roy Jones Jr. garnered over 1.6 million pay-per-view buys, Triller owner Ryan Kavanaugh told Boxing Scene.

Triller reportedly paid $50 million to land the rights to the fight and charged viewers $50 to order the event. If the 1.6 million number holds, the TikTok rival and social platform will have made $80,000,000 for their pilot program and launch into their live events business.

More PPV buys should be tabulated in the coming weeks as traditional cable operators share those numbers with Triller.

“Despite everyone wanting for it not to work, we upset them by changing things up and making it work and dominated the conversation,” Kavanaugh said.

Shortly after the completion of Tyson vs. Jones, Triller announced that it had formed a boxing program with entertainer Snoop Dogg billed as Fight Club, a separate entity from Tyson’s newly launched Legends Only League.

Triller and Snoop Dogg plan on putting on five to eight PPV events in 2021 following the same structure as Tyson vs. Jones featuring up-and-coming fighters and musical acts — sans the old man exhibition matches.

Tyson took home nearly $10 million for his scrap, while Jones had a $3 million payday. The purses listed for each all-time great by the California State Athletic Commission was $1 million.

Although the match was billed as an exhibition and not a “real fight” plenty of people were still interested in what both fighters had left in the tank.

The event marks the first boxing PPV that has gone over the million barrier since Canelo Alvarez and Gennadiy Golovkin crossed that threshold in back-to-back fights in 2017 (1.3 million) and 2018 and (1.1 million).

Tyson accumulated nearly the same PPV numbers he collected in his 1996 fight versus Evander Holyfield (1.59 million), but couldn't best his 1.97 million PPV number with Lennox Lewis in 2002, or the 1.99 million PPV figure from his rematch with Holyfield in 1997.

The “Bite Fight” still stands as the best-selling heavyweight fight of all time.

For context, the Tyson Fury versus Deontay Wilder rematch earlier this year drew nearly 850,000 PPV buys in what was arguably the most heavily promoted fight of all time from joint broadcast partners ESPN and FOX.
