I'm a fully paid up member of the Babic army, but the WBC are over reaching with this joke of a title and the ratings they have compiled.

Mick Hennessy probably values the WBC title above the others so wouldn't be surprised to see him make moves for Isaac Chamberlain sooner, rather than later.

It does seem a very weak division.

Oscar Rivas would doubtless give any heavyweight a tough night but outside of that. Kudriashov routinely gets ironed out at Cruisrweight ffs.

I just don't think it will appeal. The lure of the "heavyweight" is too strong. There is some potential - if you add the current Cruiseriwght crop and the likes of Usyk etc to the mix - as well as fighters like Wilder and other small heavies - but in all seriousness anyone with ambition and realistically feel they can win a world title will either stick to Cruiserweight or go for the Heavyweight title.

If you added the likes of
Wilder, Usyk, Breidis, Glowacki, Dorticos, Gassiev, Povetkin, Hunter and a few others who could easily make this weight - then it could be a hot bed and IMO actually more interesting than the heavyweight division - but realistically I cannot see anyone staying at this weight.

I don't mind the idea at all to be honest.

It's going to make cruiserweight and super flyweight look like glamour divisions though.

Did Tony Bellew come up with this list? He's the man the WBC tasked with setting up this new weight? Obviously he's furious cause it's taken him away from his family, you know how much he hates the limelight. Surely there should be some sort of tournament to find the first champion. As everyone says, terrible name and when the WBA WBO and IBF follow suit, and they will, it'll be Super Cruiser, won't it?

Oscar Rivas has already proven his skills in this weight division ,it was 11 years ago, but why let a fact that he hasn't weighed under 225 since then get in the way of a rating

Well, after Cruiserweight, the airline aficionado in me was hoping that if new divisions were to be made afterwards, the next division would be Airplaneweight, or Airlineweight, or at least, Airportweight....airportweight if you think about it is not such a bad name since an airport is a transitory place..but Bridgeweight isnt too bad of a name if you do need to create a new division either...

Still...in 1982, ten year old, green and wet behind his ears me hoped there would be no more divisions...guess I was just too innocent....

Do the wbc explain how they came to the rankings? Did they contact fighters and ask who wanted to be ranked ?

That’s my understanding. Fighters had to flag to them that they wanted to be ranked.
