I knew this would be the response. We already knew Wilder was a one-trick pony from his previous 40 fights. Wladimir's one-dimensional jab and hold tactic was neutralised by Fury's movement. I get it. But Joshua is a different proposition to those two. I expect Fury to win but AJ is a bigger test.mickey1975 wrote: ↑10 Dec 2020, 13:20You really don’t get it! For the first time, AJ won’t have the full crowd behind him, he can’t box like he did against Ruiz, huge pressure from the nation against a man who truly doesn’t give two sh!ts.Tuan_Jim wrote: ↑10 Dec 2020, 13:24I knew this would be the response. All true but I still think Joshua has to be considered a potential banana skin with his youth, power and combination punching. Moreso than anyone else in the division. If Fury glides past him then he can likely reign for as long as he fanciesmickey1975 wrote: ↑10 Dec 2020, 13:34For the first time, AJ won’t have the full crowd behind him, he can’t box like he did against Ruiz, huge pressure from the nation against a man who truly doesn’t give two sh!ts.Tuan_Jim wrote: ↑10 Dec 2020, 13:24I knew this would be the response. The Fury that beat Wilder last time out? I dont see anyone beating him.
AJ or Usyk are both capable of beating a below par Fury.

Re: Who gives Fury his biggest test?
Not sure why so many people are completely writing Joshua off against Fury.
I can see why Fury may be favourite, he has a better ring IQ and knows how to use his height and reach advantage to frustrate opponents.
But Joshua is a solid boxer, who hits hard and will not be an easy nights work for anyone.
He won't be anywhere near as hesitant to throw as Klitstcho and has a much better inside game than Wilder.
Fury may well win, but it won't be a walkover like some are suggesting.

That he'll be less cautious than the others plays into Tyson's hands. Candy from a baby.keirw wrote: ↑10 Dec 2020, 14:14 Not sure why so many people are completely writing Joshua off against Fury.

Joshua if he fights, and doesn't stare like an idiot.
Usyk could outbox Fury, but whether or not he'd have the strength to damage him would be the problem he'd face. That's one fight where Fury would definitely be best served just being the aggressor, and using his size and weight to wear Usyk down.

Last I looked they are a year apart. AJ can't beat Fury. In today's top 10, only Fury can beat Fury.Tuan_Jim wrote: ↑10 Dec 2020, 13:46All true but I still think Joshua has to be considered a potential banana skin with his youth, power and combination punching. Re: Who gives Fury his biggest test?
I don't believe Fury is some unbeatable talent. Oliver McCall and Hasim Rahman weren't better than Lennox Lewis, but they managed to beat him. In Heavyweight you're only ever 1 big shot away from an upset. There are certainly guys who could find the sweet spot on Fury's chin. Whether or not they could do it twice is doubtful, but it would happen once.oogiebe wrote: ↑10 Dec 2020, 14:23Last I looked they are a year apart. AJ can't beat Fury. I don't see any current top HW's beating Fury. Again, unless he goes soft and comes in out of shape mentally and physically.gilgamesh wrote: ↑10 Dec 2020, 14:26I don't believe Fury is some unbeatable talent. Re: Who gives Fury his biggest test?
Fury has passed his biggest test, the Klitschko's in Germany with all their tricks then two more tests against wilder in his own country,AJ wouldnt of beaten the two tests fury beat imo. And please dont say AJ beat Klitschko because he wouldnt of beat the Klitschko fury beat imho, fury got inside wlads head that night well before the first bell rang.

Same as Joshua.
Or maybe somebody we're not even thinking of could beat him. Nobody on Earth thought Buster Douglas could beat Mike Tyson. All I'm saying is, stranger things have happened. No man is unbeatable.
Re: Who gives Fury his biggest test?
That has got to be Fury's toughest night and one that many including me thought he lost .
His head definitely wasn't right for that fight .
Re: Who gives Fury his biggest test?
And also his conditioning. And furthermore Peter Fury wasn't onboard yet.
Also while of course you need to cut the ring down to stop Furys movement it's a lot easier said than done!
Also it will be tough to beat Fury with just one shot, no one hits harder than Wilder and Wilder smacked him flush.
As long as Fury is in shape I would make him heavy favourite.
Re: Who gives Fury his biggest test?
Sorry but this week is not about Fury.

I suppose with hindsight it shows the value of having a really tough fight early on in your career rather than just lining them up and knocking em over

Re: Who gives Fury his biggest test?
He may be a different proposition but he still has the same problems against Fury that Wilder had- he can’t think with his feet. He can punch stationary targets, when he is stationary, but to hit a moving target, or throw effective punches himself whilst moving, is pretty much beyond him.Tuan_Jim wrote: ↑10 Dec 2020, 13:24I knew this would be the response. I just think Joshua will fight more offensively than did Klitschko, who timidly surrendered his title.TheGman wrote: ↑10 Dec 2020, 14:35Fury has passed his biggest test, the Klitschko's in Germany with all their tricks then two more tests against wilder in his own country,AJ wouldnt of beaten the two tests fury beat imo. Re: Who gives Fury his biggest test?
Right now I actually think Joyce'd be Fury's biggest threat, even though I'd fancy him to lose to one or two others. Because he's got the size, strength, engine, chin and self-belief.
I make Fury-AJ 70:30 at the minute, because I think AJ has to be aggressive to win and I still suspect him of lacking confidence. But if he smashes Pulev and goes at Fury like he did Breazeale as a result, that's definitely a 50:50 for me. His one-two won't cut it against Fury — he needs to double and triple his jab and throw his combinations of old.
