A great matchup. If they met somewhere in the early 90s, there would be fireworks.
Both were very tough, still Mercer edges with this quality and a lot because of his granite chin. Ruddock had a regular one. Mercer's jab was better and Ray seemed to be more versatile overall. Ruddock was too dependant on his hybrid hook. Actually, if not KO, still Ruddock's money punch could hurt Mercer. Anyway, I guess, Mercer's edge with diversity and durability would be keys to victory.
