I don't know but I miss boxing on HBO. You all think it will return?

Not likely, but I don't care. Their commentry became too biased and annoying with time. Furthermore, who needs another network? It's enough mess with the current ones.

Well, I mean, the NFL and association football are on every channel basically......

So having boxing on many networks can't hurt the sport or can it?

You are right about the bias......and if Max mentions Pernell Whitaker as he does like he was a top 5 of all time, I'd write whichever network he is working with to fire him.

I wish.

Say what you want about the commentary, etc.... but HBO had the absolute best production value.

To me, no one has ever called a big fight better than Lampley. I’m getting accustomed to the new Sportscasters but I miss Lampley’s eloquence and tears during those beautiful battles that he couldn’t quite get through without choking up.

Today’s commentators all have similar interests and opinions going in and they way too often differ from final fight statistics and judges scoring.

I'll take a biased Lampley over an "unbiased" Andre Ward, Tim Bradley, Mauro Ranallo... etc. etc

You guys are yearning for something that's never going to happen.

And even if HBO did decide to cover the sport of boxing again, it would employ a completely different broadcasting team, due to the fact:

o Jim Lampley is 71 years of age.
o Larry Merchant is 89 years old.
o Harold Lederman and Emmanuel Steward both sadly passed away.
o Max Kellerman now works for ESPN and, forgive me if I'm wrong, I'm sure he no longer performs a ringside colour commentary role, since he now seems to discuss the sport within a television studio.
o Andre Ward now works for ESPN.

So HBO boxing is long gone and will never return. And even if it did, it cannot possibly remotely resemble its former self.

And let’s not forget that back in 2016, Jim Lampley once famously and prematurely celebrated the demise of the PBC, based on erroneous information that was subsequently debunked.

Within two years of Lampley delivering his conflict-of-interest hypocritical sermon deriding the PBC's alleged failures, some of which were either untrue or the same accusations could have been aimed at his home network, HBO announced they were dropping their coverage of the sport of boxing.

And didn’t the judge presiding over Golden Boy’s failed anti-trust monopoly lawsuit against Al Hayon, confirm that HBO was reluctant to work with Showtime, rather than the other way round, which clearly resulted in a “cold war” that prevented many super-fights from happening?

And now that HBO has long gone, in comparison to DAZN & ESPN, the PBC continues to possess the biggest roster of 150+ fighters, more world-world rated boxers, more champions, superior viewing audience figures and better PPV buy-rates than any of their US-based rivals.

Now that’s what I call a real case of KARMA!!!

December 2017 hbo had 142 million subscribers worldwide half in US (71 million)

To date in 2020 their hbo APP had 38 million us subscribers and they figured half current hbo customers hadnt yet signed up for app so id estimate tot US subscribers around 57 million

Id guess the drop is because of primarily game of thrones ending and secondarily boxing.

And combine the commentary teams. Teddy Atlas and Sean O'Grady

Yeah I got a lot of enjoyment of both of those series'.

I kick myself for not watching Tuesday Night Fights more as a little boy. I only watched it maybe twice in all those years, but I did buy the Tuesday Night Fights Knockouts DVD set. I've since sold it, but I watched it a lot before I did so the memories are burned in.
