What do you expect him to say?

'Nah he'll get blown out late on. He's just there to make up the numbers and keep the seat warm'

Well show some fornicating respect for the Champ , yes he has to back his guy but there is a point where it becomes a bit farcical and he crossed it for me .

This is a weird thread. How often do promoters come out and say their guy is getting ko’d? :maybe:

It is a daft topic. He was hyping the fight, trying to rattle AJ and supporting his charge all at the same time. Also, why should he show some respect to AJ?

He didn't even show any respect after he'd been clubbed around in the ring .

He's either thick or doesn't give a shite .

Odd statement.

Arum has seen dozens of champions come and go down the years, not sure why he should go out of his way to show any undue respect to a man who was about to face one of his guys and will likely face another shortly after.

Arum was a lawyer I’m pretty sure that is or at least was his expertise.

Arum managed to stop his arch-rival Don king entering the ring after the Leonard-Hagler fight in Las Vegas in 1987, a show promoted by Arum. Nine years earlier, King had entered the ring after the Ali-Spinks rematch in New Orleans, another Arum show, and went over and hugged the winner (naturally). This time Arum was waiting and he grabbed at King's coat-tail as King made his way up the steps by Leonard's corner and pulled him back. Security then intervened.

Arum is a dinosaur, it's time to step aside Bob.

PPV figures are in massive decline stateside and its down to promoters like Bob.

To some extent but also whoever sets the price point for PPVs, availability of illegal streams, widespread poverty, and changing interests. Young people don't give a fornicate about boxing, why should they? Computer games are more enjoyable for them by far.

And yet still threads are made out of them?

What’s the most ridiculous promoter comment pre fight? My favourite was Don King.

Don King - Yeah were working hard to make Lacy v Calzaghe, it’s a great fight.
Reporter - How’s Evans Ashira gonna get on tonight against Calzaghe?
Don King - Evans Ashira is gonna shock the world and beat Calzaghe.

He was and doubtless there are many transferable skills that enabled him to make the transition.

Having survived for forty odd years in the crazy world of boxing I think it could reasonably be argued that he has some expertise in this field now.

It was Gary Shaw in the Lacy camp. Don’t think Don was involved.
