Young had been at his peak in 1976 and 1977. Arguable loss to Ali, wins over Lyle and Foreman, arguable loss to Norton. In other words, a win streak with more and less convincing wins over Ali, Lyle, Foreman and Norton.

Tyson was already declined in 1989. After splitting with Rooney following the 1988 win over Spinks, Tyson became less-dimensional, his jab, body-punching and head-movement became worse.

In addition to that, Young was a type of a boxer to deal with aggressive punchers.

Perhaps I should have had Tyson in 1988.*

Tyson then was quicker than Foreman in 1977, but he would have missed Tyson a lot, frustrating him. A Young win is realistic, I agree.

If to match prime Young against prime Tyson, I'd choose Tyson to win on points majorly because of outworking Young. Neither would score a lot of damage. It would be similar to the Tyson-Tucker bout.

Unless I'm mistaken, Tyson knocked out Holmes, Tubbs, and Spinks in '88, all within 4 rounds. In the versions listed, I'd take Tyson by stoppage inside 7 rounds, and likely within 4. Too much fire power for Young, and Tyson's style would have been poison for Young.
