Golovkin needs to retire. He's lost his single-shot power. That pole was a lamb to the slaughter last night and the executioner took 7 rounds of clubbing to get him out. The Ggg that corkscrewed Rubio or chopped Maklin in half doesn't exist anymore, and this version would get beaten handily by Canelo in a trilogy. Old and diminshed, time to hang them up.

Disagree completely about him losing power. That Pole was just harder than Rubio and Macklin.

Looked like GG coulda taken him out in the 2nd or 3rd if he really wanted to, quite a disheartening watch really, like a bored lion toying with his prey - thought the ref was sadistic not to wave it off earlier

GGG said this before and he said it after this fight.. He wanted to go a few rounds. He's had a 14 month lay -off (longest in his pro career) and he does provide 'big drama show', so wanted to attract fans.

Yeh, he dropped him with sickening shots. Maybe Kamil was more of a fighter than we thought, he wanted to stay in there. It was his corner that stopped the fight.

Also, his power is still there.. The last KD was from a double Jab.. JAB!

He didn't have the power to keep GGG off of him.. he did show toughness in wanting to continue. Fair play to him..

He was out of his depth and not as good as either Rubio or Macklin but he was a harder man.

GGG is still a major force at middleweight.

He was his usual cool self and calmly punched holes through Szeremeta until his corner wisely pulled him out.

There were times when he showed some lovely sharp head movement to slip his challengers punches.

The first knockdown didn't look like a heavy punch at first, but with the benefit of the replay it was a shuddering left hand that dropped Szeremeta.

In an age when weight jumping is still all the rage, I love the way GGG has remained at middleweight taking on challenger after challenger. You really know where you are with Golovkin

I just watched a 12 minute highlights of the fight on Youtube and gotta admit GGG looked great. They are saying that GGG surpassed Bernard Hopkins record for 20 defenses at Middleweight with this fight. Question is - nice as that is, it always irked for such a boring watch as Hopkins to have taken that record from the great Carlos Monzon - what does the defense against Kamil Szeremeta tell us about GGG's continuing battle against Father Time?

The way GGG slides into range, his moves and his angles - those slight adjustments of the feet before he lets the shots go - that stuff still looks amazing against an opponent like Szeremeta but what does it tell us really if Szeremeta is a level or two below World level? Manny Pacqiano has shown how a highly skilled but ageing champion can look the part against the correctly selected opponent by a cunning backroom team.

It was only one fight ago that they were saying that Canelo should take the rematch now and that GGG was ready to be taken. Next week in Boxing News they may be hedging their bets again (even Boxing News gets it wrong now and again) .

Here's hoping That Callum Smith can perform a miracle in the early hours and save GGG from the rubber match.

It's always peculiar to me how boxers are written off one minute and hailed the next.

Some seem to think Liam Williams might give Demetrius Andrade a run for his money, which suggests to me they think Williams is a world class challenger, because Andrade is pretty damn good.

If that is the case that Williams is a bona fida top ten middleweight, why not challenge GGG ? Especially if Golovkin is fading ?

If it happens in 2021, everyone will quickly see that GGG is still very much a formidable force.

Glad I’m not the only one. Isn’t it because his name is gennady gennadyovich Golovkin or something lame
He was also called the Kazakh Thunder earlier
In his career..

I guess they just got used to Triple G..

Now we have Dubois DDD
and Joyce is JJJ.. but their middle initial is their nickname.

Whereas Golovkin is legit GGG.
