Re: who do you want canelo to fight next?
I'm definitely not interested in Golovkin III.
GGG can't get a decision against Canelo and Saul is too tough to be KOd.
Golovkin is also pushing 40 and Alvarez is arguably even better than in 2017, so there's no more to see.
I would like to see him fight Jermall, but only if Alvarez comes down to 160; if it's at 168 I think Charlo is at more of a disadvantage.
My dream fight would be Canelo V Beterbiev at 175, as that is one fight I wouldn't put my house on Alvarez winning.

Re: who do you want canelo to fight next?
Yeah he’s done at 160. His body looked incredible at 168. He’d be silly to shrink himself down another 8 pounds. Wants the belts at 168. He’s also said he wants to fight in Japan. I think these fights at 168 are likely for next year and 2022.Jeff_lacy_ko wrote: ↑20 Dec 2020, 10:27No and hes canelo so anyone thinking hes coming down is nuts. He calls the shots
1. BJS. Presents problems stylistically for Canelo and is a big draw.
2. Murata in Japan. Will be awesome. I think it’s a (for lack of a better term) “easy” fight for Canelo.
3. Caleb Plant. He grabs the final belt to become undisputed, smashes a popular fighter, and makes some pretty good money.
4. Benavidez. That’s a huge fight. Big money Cinco De Mayo card for 2022.
The Beterbiev fights needs a little more marinating because that is potential huge money if the public gets more exposed to AB, and Canelo should take some more fights above 160 before he takes on a full fledged prime hard-punching world-class 175 pounder.
Re: who do you want canelo to fight next?
Beterbiev before he gets too old.
Jermall.
Jermall.

He should do this.
Feb is 2 months away. Quick turnaround. Fight in Mexico. No dent. Yildirim won’t do any more damage than Callum and won’t go the distance.
Then Canelo can fight a big one in May.

Re: who do you want canelo to fight next?
Beterbiev will never be a big money fighter, and is already 35. 'Marinating' is just gonna make sure that fight never happens.
Re: who do you want canelo to fight next?
i dont wanna making new topic so im going to ask here. Did you guys ever saw Alvarez using some dirty tactics in ring ? Because ive didnt notice that and i am his big fan for over a decade

1. GGG
2. Bivol
3. Charlo
None of the current crop at 168 are interesting to me.

Beterbiev is the only fighter from 160 to 175 that can beat him. Thats what i want to see.
Other than that plant, benvidez, or ggg would all be fine.

The question is who do you want him to face, not who do you think he won't face.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑20 Dec 2020, 09:01 I reckon that DAZN will desperately try to cash in on GGG, by paying Canelo over-the-odds to make a second appearance on their network.
The risk to DAZN of doing otherwise, is that the ageing past-his-prime 39-year-old GGG might be upset by an opponent of a similar calibre to Kamil Szeremeta, Steve Rolls, Vanes Martirosyan or Dominic Wade, which will render one of their most-prized assets as being worthless.
We know for sure that a little over a year ago, before Team GGG finally settled on Kamil Szeremeta, the likes of Hassan N'Dam, Brandon Adams and John Ryder were in contention to face Gennadiy.
And if DAZN can't secure the Canelo-GGG rematch, then Golovkin may try to orchestrate another mismatch stay-busy type of fight against a subpar opponent.
In the meantime, Eddie Hearn is orchestrating a WBO super-middleweight world title fight between Billy Joe Saunders and Demetrius Andrade. So there’s no point in considering either of these guys as potential Canelo foes anytime soon.
Anyway, this will leave Canelo free to engage in a title unification against Caleb Plant. We already know that Alvarez has tried twice this year to orchestrate a fight with the IBF 168lbs champ.
Therefore, Canelo will almost certainly face Caleb Plant during Cinco de May 2021, if DAZN fails to submit a substantial offer to televise the GGG rematch.
Re: who do you want canelo to fight next?
At this point I wouldn't mind a final fight vs GGG but with no drug testing at 168.
Re: who do you want canelo to fight next?
BJS or Andrade.
I think either could give Canelo problems.
Charlo
Caleb Plant.

Re: who do you want canelo to fight next?
The person i'd like to see him face is not the same as the one I believe would trouble him stylistically.
The opponent's who've given him the most trouble are ones who have a bit of a cute style mixed in with good boxing fundamentals (ie Lara and Cotto for the first half of the fight).
Despite the size difference, I think he could handle Beterbiev. There'd be power there that he'd have to respect, but Canelo has now become so tight with his defence, and so adept at negating any size/reach advantages, that I feel he'd be the one landing a lot more and wearing down the larger, more open Beterbiev (a fighter who has already tasted the canvas before).
BJS has a style that would trouble him a lot more. Someone fighting off the backfoot and using intelligent boxing skills whilst fighting with a 'do what I need to to win without pleasing others' style, ie a bit of a spoiler when needed.
Charlo has the speed and respectable power to trouble him, but it would need to be at 168lbs because, as someone already mentioned, he's probably now at 168lbs+ to stay.
Of those 3, I see BJS giving him the most problems, but would like to see him fight Charlo as it would probably be the most fun and closest fight with a great match up of styles and skills.

Re: who do you want canelo to fight next?
Fair enough.
35 but only 15 pro fights. Doesn’t look like an old man. Just saying he’s not a known name. But I guess Canelo doesn’t need that to sell fights.

If Canelo is at his best at 168lbs, then I’d like to see him unify the division.
I don’t care who he fights to achieve that goal.
So Plant or Saunders would be my preferred choices. It’s more about the belts than those individuals.
I don’t see the need for a third GGG fight. I’d expect Canelo to either decisively gain a decision victory or even score a late stoppage.
The only reason why that fight could happen is for business reasons.
And if Canelo wins, he won’t receive any kudos from fans, because he only beat a past-his-prime 39-year-old. The only alternative is that he obviously loses to an over-the-hill opponent.
So apart from the payday, a third GGG bout puts him in a no-win situation.
I just don’t want to see that fight happen.
In my mind, Canelo-GGG III is in the same realms as Pacquiao-Bradley III or Nelson-Fenech III.

Re: who do you want canelo to fight next?
Any of the top names at 168.
or Jermall Charlo. Though I don't expect I'd watch whoever he fought. I don't really see any fights out there that would get me interested in the sport again aside from maybe Fury vs Joshua.

Re: who do you want canelo to fight next?
Style-wise Andrade or BJS, but he will avoid a style that would cause him a lot of problems. Since neither BJS or Jermall Charlo wanted to fight Andrade, he would be my first pick. There must be a reason other than he's a boring fighter.

Re: who do you want canelo to fight next?
What you’ve just written clearly proves that you don't really know anything about Demetrius Andrade.
In fact, your claims are the complete polar opposite of reality!!!
Jermall Charlo and Demetrius Andrade compete on rival networks, which means that any bout involving both fighters is always going to be tricky to make.
And if Demetrius was serious about facing Jermall, he would have chosen to join the PBC rather than DAZN.
We also know for certain that when Andrade rejected the Jermell Charlo bout, it not only cost him a career-high purse, but he was also stripped of his WBO world 154lbs title for failing to defend it within a nine-month period.
Had he taken the Charlo bout, he would have also commenced a three-fight deal with Showtime.
Andrade ducked Charlo, was stripped of his WBO world title, became inactive and ended up facing the following anonymous names for his next three bouts: Dario Fabian Pucheta, Willie Nelson and Jack Culcay.
As well as rejecting the Jermell Charlo bout, Andrade also rejected opportunities to face Matt Korobov and Erislandy Lara.
Also, I can provide a video of Andrade admitting the following:
• “Before the Lemieux fight, Billy Joe was willing to get into the ring with me and I told him to handle what he’s got to handle… and Lemieux is easy if you’re six feet and you know how to box, know how to move, it’s a walk in the park.”
• “I know that Billy Joe Saunders would fight me. I think he’s a confident guy that’s willing to get into the ring and put whatever he got on the line…”
• “[Would I like to fight Saunders next?]… No! I’d like to fight one more fighter at 160lbs and then fight him…”
• “Saunders has some good boxing ability and some good footwork. Saunders is a big dude. So what I’m saying is for me to be able to beat down a big dude, I think I need to put on a little more weight the proper way.”
• “You can tell Saunders is a big guy…”
And let’s not forget, that despite competing on rival networks, Billy Joe Saunders actually agreed to defend his WBO title against Andrade in the American’s own backyard. He signed the contract and passionately promoted the event on US soil.
Re: who do you want canelo to fight next?
Last year, Eddie Hearn said on IFL that BJS was offered huge money a month ago to fight Andrade and then Canelo if he won. Why would he turn that down?

Re: who do you want canelo to fight next?
I'm going out on a limb here and saying I'd love to watch BJS vs Andrade.
I KNOW very little will be thrown or landed and it will switch the "casual" fan right off - but..
Two masterful technicians* cancelling each other out can be a wonderful thing as long as it's not too often.
*and yes Margaret - BJS IS some master-boxer![[icon_wink.gif] ;-)](./images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)

The biggest threats to Canelo imo =
1 Beterbiev - 175
2 Bivol - 175 or 168
3 Benavidez - 168
4 Saunders - 160
5 Charlo - 160
