Rating the Brits vs Alvarez

Khan was more successful in 6 rounds than any of the others were in their whole fights. He was the only guy of them who was boxing at Canelo's level and hanging competiviely with him, could make a case that he was ahead and he was never outclassed in a round until the ending. t

LOL it's like you're not even factoring in the FACT that Khan got spectaluarly KO'd brutally in just the 6th round. , looking like he was DEAD on the floor haha. He couldn't even last half the fight with Canelo.

Canelo was just warming up, slow start, wasn't even really trying, then he started timing him in the 4th and 5th, Then the second he lands a decent shot, BOOM it's over!!!

Who cares if Khan won a few of the early rounds it's meaningless. The second Canelo wanted it to be over it was over.

It's just so not true. It's not like USA and Mexico dominate every weightclass. USA only really dominate Welterweight that's it. And Mexico are only strong in the lower weights. It's rare for their to even be a top Mexican above lightweight like Canelo. 9 times out of 10 a Brit faces a Mexican above lightweight the Brit beats their ass.

All countries boxers lose when they are facing the best p4p boxers lol. it's like saying Brit fighters always lose to Ukrainians just cause to Lomachenko and Usyk spank every Brit they face. It's like saying all American fighters lose to brits cause Joe Calzaghe whooped them all.

I can't see any of our 3 best fighters atm Fury, Taylor and Joshua losing to a American or Mexican anytime soon.

It's not like America and Mexico are some 'dominant species' in boxing, Look at how poor they are in Amateur boxing for example. There's loads of weightclasses in the pros where they are not among the best boxers. I don't think anyone is the clear dominant force but if I was to talk like that...I would tend to agree with Paulie Malignaggi that Eastern European/ex Soviets are the best. Definitely not Americans lol this aint the 80s/90s.

Don't know about the Khan comment. Nearly everyone on this thread is saying Khan performed the best against Canelo. Call them out too. Don't know why you're always picking out my comments.

I don't give 2 craps about Khan, but as a boxing fan, I respect his achievements and the fact that he's always been in exciting fights, regardless of outcome, chin, duck, quit, whatever you want to call it.

That knock out video has been viewed, laughed at and ridiculed all over the world millions of times, it's embarrassing being the victim of that. Callum Smith was never hurt once in the entire fight against the best ever version of Alvarez, that's more credible.

Callum was in survival mode for most of the fight. He never actually tried to win. It's easier to go the distance when you come in with the mindset of a journeyman.

Bollocks, he was throwing power punches in every round, let plenty of combinations go aswell, he just couldn't seem to land clean.

He was forced back to the ropes by Canelo, but usually tried to either roll or fight his way off them. He only clinched excessively in the last round after he had the fight beat out of him.

I get that you don't like him, but there is no need to start making sh*t up to discredit him.

He did the best he could and was beaten by the better man, that is it. He has nothing to be ashamed of.

I do like him. He looked weak and got hammered. None of his shots bothered Canelo in the slightest. Maybe it's time for him to move up in weight or simply hang them up. There's nothing for him at SWM any more. When you're exposed like that at a weight, you may as well move to another one where you'll be stronger.

that was pretty much the most depressing part from his perspective, whenever he did let his hands go, (1) he just seemed like what he is, a long-armed stiffie trying and failing to throw short-ish range combinations, and landing what he did with little-no snap or impact (2) they bounced- or more accurately kindof glanced- off Canelo like he was in armour and (3) he was then made to pay

khan won more rounds than the other guys did even fighting longer fights, he was the only one who was actually competitive and hanging with alvarez, landing good shots and even making him miss wildly at times. he did this all fighting a much bigger guy. i dont think alvarez just suddenly decided he was going to end it. he wasnt really pushing all that particularly hard compared to before, he just caught khan and of couurse ol glass chin got creamed

i dont think lasting more rounds but being a totally uncompetitive punch bag and just getting whalloped more is really that impressive

the way i look at it, only one guy managed to box at canelo's level and actually 'hang' with him. that is more of a feat and takes a higher level of performance (fewer guys could do it) than simply taking a beating for longer. and let's be honest, ppl say it was obviously only a matter of time till khan got splatted, but it was obvious the other dudes were gonna lose too

Come on Maggie, you don’t really think Khan was hanging with Canelo, do you? He absolutely wasn’t. He shoeshined him a couple of times, moved fairly well and then bam, KO. Smith took for more punishment against a far better version of Alvarez. It’s a moot point tho really as both got smashed and none actually did well at all.
