Gongrats to Canelo for his win but Ryder beat first Callum

Post by apollo creed »

Let's not get carried away with this media/show hype. Callum got beat first by Ryder. Callum was just coddling that belt for Canelo, to set up this fight.

I'd like to see Canelo fighting a guy that comes after a good victory like let's say a mix between Andrade and BJS or a mix between Charlo, Plant and Benavidez and the winner would be a serious opponent for Canelo.

If Canelo will fight BJS, (even if Saunders is a good boxer)- he was an inactive fighter who didn't fight a notable name since Lemieux at 160 lbs. Same with Andrade, who only fought a decent name at mw in Sulecki in 2019.
Same with GGG- who should give Chenko a rematch b/c G looked poor in that fight or maybe move up at 168 lbs and fight Ryder first. :TU: :box:

Callum got beat by Ryder firstly , got a gift decision and then he won the jackpot by fighting Canelo. He's a winner imho.

I hope Hearn matches Andrade with BJS asap and then the winner should get Canelo in May.

GGG should rematch Chenko or move up at 168 lbs and fight Ryder.

wbc w. 168lbs title = David Benavidez is the real champion.
wba s.w 168lbs title = John Ryder is the real champion who actually showed the blueprint to beat Callum.

well firstly that he is not a very fluid boxer , he lacks movement and mobility and for me needs a whole new set up that doesnt involve gallagher or his daft brothers feeding him shit !

Ryder showed that first. Callum should've lost his title to Ryder. :TU:

It's not like Callum came from a big-clear win over a top smw like Benavidez or Plant when he fought Canelo. Pretty much Ryder beat Callum first and showed the blueprint. :box:

I wonder if Canelo is gonna fight Yildirim first or go for the WBO or IBF smw titles?

Atm Canelo is bigger than the titles and he's the boss.

What stylistic similarities did you feel Ryder used against Callum Smith that Canelo clearly took note of and employed the same tactic?

In my mind, Canelo fought like Canelo. He didn’t alter the usual gameplan he employs against much taller foes.

I’m just not sure about this “blueprint” claim.

Ryder had his success against Callum by fighting in close range and attack Callum's body with hooks. :TU:

Did Ryder attempt to intentionally injure Smith’s arm to take away his best shot, which is the catch left-hook?

There wasn't a blueprint for Canelo to follow, because he did his own thing against Smith.

its a good question. will he use the bicep as a excuse or take on board what happened, i always thought had potential has the perfect boxer body long arms can take a punch moves well have decent power , but he just aint put it together , after the groves win, i was wanting to see him improve but he never , i question does he want it that much, i think his natural ablity got him a world title, i dont he has the hunger for it. that is not a slight at his toughness . he has that in abundance, just dont think he has the drive

Callum Smith explained the following to Boxing Social:

”[My arm] is füçkéd, to be honest with you,

“And it was intentional, because I knew from the first round... [Canelo] was aiming for my arm, every right hook he kept throwing [at it], he was going for my arm...

“And then after round four, I told [my corner] my arm is füçkêd,

“He kind of took away my catch left-hook, which is my best shot, which was probably [their plan]

“When he was hitting my arm, it was making my arm drop, rather than being able to return with it. He took my [best] shot away from me.

“And every credit to him, he knew what he was doing.

“After the twelfth round, he just looked [at it] and laughed at the swelling.

“It was just his experience... because he took away my best shot!”

ok then like i said i wasnt dissapointed with his lost but how he lost,as i rated him better than that, its funny people saying smith blah blah stepped up a class nah i aint buying it he was ready to step in that class but showed little, teo stepped up lately against loma and wipped the floor with him, i aint giving smith a pass as he was built for boxing , honestly think it could be a mental thing

So Canelo is gonna fight Yildirim in Feb.

It's strange that a guy who got KO'd by Eubank Jr in three rounds is ranked so high by the wbc to get a title shot vs the face of boxing in Canelo? What about Benavidez, Lemieux orJacobs? :box:

:verysad:

It's outrageous. Benavidez or Lemieux would beat the brakes off Yildirim. Even Rosado would beat him badly. :box:
